So my mother has three cats. Two boys (shadow and ebony) and one girl (raven). Raven is the oldest and she doesn't like being inside. When sj is inside all she does is hiss and growl at everyone and wants to go back out. The other two get along and for some reason she gets along with the neighbors cat but not shadow or ebony. Anyone have an explanation?

I think partly it's that she's a cat and they can be unexplainable, plus she might just be cranky with everyone because, as you mentioned, she wants out and it's everybody's fault when she can't get out.

It's possible that if she wasn't ever let out again, she'd eventually acclimate to being an indoor kitty and could even become less cranky about things, with a lot of patience and loving care.

One thing though, has she been to the vet lately?

If you're noticing that she's getting crankier, along with any other changes, you might see about getting her in for a wellness check.

Are all the cats fixed? Does she have enough cat trees/litter boxes inside (should have 3 tall cat trees in social significant rooms and 3 litter boxes placed around the house).

They are all fixed, but they do only have one car tree and two litter boxes are next two each other.

I read just a little bit ago that having the litterboxes together, to a cat is viewed as though it's just one. If you can, move one of them and maybe pick up another one - Walmart has inexpensive ones that are good sized in case you have any large kitties :)
