Aww, the poor girl. She must be having a lot of discomfort to be urinating outside the box. Kudos to you for seeing a vet about it.

As to the c/d, l see your point about the ingredients:

Dry -

Brewers Rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Chicken by-Product Meal, Pork Fat, Chicken, Chicken Liver Flavor, Fish Oil, Lactic Acid, Choline Chloride, Calcium Sulfate, Potassium Chloride, DL-Methionine, Iodized Salt, Potassium Citrate, Taurine, vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement), Casein, L-Tryptophan, minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Phosphoric Acid, Mixed Tocopherols for freshness, Natural Flavors, Beta-Carotene

Canned chicken/veg -

Water, Pork Liver, Chicken, Carrots, Wheat Gluten, Rice, Corn Starch, Spinach, Chicken Liver Flavor, Potassium Alginate, Chicken Fat, Fish Oil, Soybean Oil, Calcium Chloride, Dicalcium Phosphate, Guar Gum, Calcium Sulfate, vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid), Taurine, Potassium Citrate, Iodized Salt, Choline Chloride, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, minerals (Zinc Oxide, Ferrous Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Calcium Iodate), Beta-Carotene, Calcium Carbonate.

That's not the greatest, and l wouldn't be wanting to feed to to my cats long-term either.

However, if your vet has prescribed it, she has done so for valid reasons. Perhaps an in-depth discussion with your vet to get a list of those reasons would help on the food front.

eg. crystals can be caused by stress, as well as too many minerals/dehydration. Did she come up with a specific cause, and do you know what the crystals are?

Hopefully the c/d is wet food as this would help with hydration and flushing. lf not, it might be a good idea to add warm water to the dry c/d to up kitty's water intake.

l've never had a kitty with crystals so can't offer any experience. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will offer more help.

Vibes for kitty
l hope she's feeling better soon.
