I acquired a kitten I named dirt diggler through my sister. He was thrown out of a car window with the rest of his litter. The witness was able to find all but dirt...he was found days later. I still have dirt, but he's had serious issues. Since having him I have put in over a thousand dollars to keep him alive. He's been on antibiotics for 5 months...out of his 8 months of age. They're concerned he will become immune to them. Go for another consultation next week to discuss his progress. As of now...he cannot live without antibiotics. The nose drops they have him on are a joke. Any feed back would be appreciated.

He is my best friend. Losing him will destroy me for sure. So trying like hell to figure this out. Or if any vet in pa sees this...I am willing to travel.

He has been on doxi for 4 months. On cerenia and doxi now for past 3 weeks. Was told to try cutting back on the doxi and just use cerenia...tried it. He started gasping for air again after 2 days.

My family keeps telling me to let him go. He is seriously the best thing that's ever happened to me since my mom died. He keeps me happy. I need him to live and a vet serious enough to make it happen. Everyone else is giving up on him...and in a sense giving up on me. I know to some he may be just a cat...but hes more to me. Hes my happiness...he keeps me going. I will be lost without him.

And done writing now. I hope and pray for a vet that might take on his case for free after seeing how loving and friendly he is. People that come over beg to bring him home. He deserves to live.

What are his symptoms? What was wrong that caused him to be put on antibiotics? All you've said is, after coming off a drug, he gasps for air within 2 days. Trouble breathing? Was that the initial issue? And, only issue?

Welcome to TCS! :wave3: I'm glad you came here for advice and support. First, I'd like to thank you for rescuing your kitten, Dirt Diggler. :catlove:I completely understand you wanting to keep him and get an accurate diagnosis. Since you mentioned finances are a concern I thought this Article about what to do when you can't afford vet care might be helpful. Note the organizations by state:

I hope and pray for a vet that might take on his case for free after seeing how loving and friendly he is. People that come over beg to bring him home. He deserves to live.
Do you live anywhere near a university that has a veterinary medical school? They have the appropriate specialists and most up to date research. Often times they will work with you to get treatment for your cat and figure out a payment plan. It's definitely worth looking into.

I wish you the best of luck. :alright: Please keep us posted on your progress with Dirt.
