I just started to foster for my local cat shelter. They called me and told me they had 3 orphaned kittens who were in need of some TLC. I am an extreme animal lover and would love to help them out no matter what, even though im allergic to almost all animals icluding my kittens.

Im fine until they come up to my face but i dont want to not allow them to do that, because they need to know that its great to be loving and cuddly like how they are.

I heard warm water wash cloth on them helps with the dander. But im not really sure..
any suggestions, comments, experiences to help me and my kitties!

My mom is extremely allergic to cats, if they even come in the room with her she gets all itchy and red eyed. What I figured out with my kitty, Chester, is that if you bath them atleast once a week it seems to help with the allergies. Make sure you start this young though or else your kitty will get VERY mad!

My mom is also allergic to cats, so when my parents visit here or I take Ollie home with me, I have to do a few things... first, I vacuum a lot when she's going to be around, I also bought a Holmes electric air purifier from walmart (relatively cheap)... I bathe Oliver once a month and when mom's gonna be near he gets rubbed down with a cloth soaked in "Simple Solution Allergy Relief From Cats" (it's in a white bottle with a pink and green label - I got it at petsmart or petco) I also try to brush him regularly with a shed tool... my mom hasn't had any problems since I use all these tactics! She thinks the allergy reliever stuff REALLY helps... good luck and yay to you for fostering these babies!

I tlaked to an allergy specialist.. and they said half the time its not the dander that people are allergic to, but the saliva.

Wiping them down daily with a warm cloth may or may not help, it would depend on what allergy you have.

My mother is allergic to their saliva, she cannot touch their noses or let them lick her or she breaks out is a rash. Or if the fur gets in her face then she will also ahvea reaction. People will still react to fur with this allergy as the cats licks themselves, therefore getting saliva all over its fur. So either way with this allergy.

Ya, I heard that too! I think that some people are allergic to the dander and the saliva so thats why bathes really help. I have never tried any of the products people are mentioning, maybe I will, which ones work best?
