Hi everyone, this is my first post here.
My two-year-old kitty, Layla, has just had an operation to remove an impacted hairball. The op was successful but she had an allergic reaction to the dissolvable stitches - her belly swelled up with liquid - so they had to open her up and use other material. The same thing happened again so they used very expensive suture material. Now it's happening yet again - she has some fluid moving around near the stitching and it's hot to the touch and uncomfortable for her. The vet's now suggested we administer cortisone and wait and see until Friday, and perhaps open her up again and use surgical glue, although she's not sure it can be used internally! I am at my wit's end! Also don't understand it as she didn't have a bad reaction when she was spayed. Is it possible they can develop immune system responses when older? Also, what else could be done to help my poor little kitten?
