Just a little poem I wrote for those of us who have lost our best furry friends. Hope it's Ok.
So silent now
This house
Once filled with softly padding sleekness
Once ripe with energetic play
Once soothed with rhythmic purr of meditation
Once welcoming with joyous vocal fanfare
Now silent
This house
Tears well then
They fall
Remembering the warmth of feline love
Remembering the weight of generous fur
Remembering the loving stare of green eyes
Remembering the softness of their purr
Now tears
Sometimes just tears
And yet some days
The heart lifts
Remembering the happiness
Once tumbling in open arms
Remembering how we cherished moments
Once embracing their healing balms
Some days
Just gratitude
Our familiars
Our companions
Still here
Always here
In remembering
So silent now
This house
Once filled with softly padding sleekness
Once ripe with energetic play
Once soothed with rhythmic purr of meditation
Once welcoming with joyous vocal fanfare
Now silent
This house
Tears well then
They fall
Remembering the warmth of feline love
Remembering the weight of generous fur
Remembering the loving stare of green eyes
Remembering the softness of their purr
Now tears
Sometimes just tears
And yet some days
The heart lifts
Remembering the happiness
Once tumbling in open arms
Remembering how we cherished moments
Once embracing their healing balms
Some days
Just gratitude
Our familiars
Our companions
Still here
Always here
In remembering
