I am so sorry that you lost your beautiful Dandii. Although I haven't been through that recently, I certainly have in the past. My heart is with you.

Rest you gentle, Dandii, dream you deep. You walk in someone's heart forever.

So very sorry for your loss, we know how heartbreaking it is when they pass on, but your kitty was loved and Dandii loved you, it takes quite a long time to get over it but each day tends to get a little bit less hurtful. I hope in good time you will consider taking in another that needs a good home.

May your heart heal a bit more each day, God Bless....:alright:

Dear Debi, we know the heartache of losing such a treasured family member and companion, the emptiness it leaves behind is overwhelming at times and leaves us broken. There is one thing you have to cling to, your sweet baby would never want you to be so sad because of something they did. Dandii would want you to go on and find happiness in your life once more, live your life the way you would want Dandii to go on if you were the first to go. Life is for the living, Dandii's new journey will parallel yours now, until that path crosses once more in the future. The bond you formed can never be taken from you, use it and your precious memories to bring you comfort. Time is the only thing that helps to soften the sharp edges of grief. One day you will smile through your tears when remembering that sweet little one and what that love brought to your life. It was meant to be, and would be tragic indeed to have never known that love at all. Don't dwell on the end, it changes nothing and only brings heartache. Do good things in Dandii's name, donate food and litter to your local shelter, pay for the adoption of the cat taht has been there the longest. It helps you to feel a little better about yourself and honors the memory you hold so dear. Don't be afraid to open your heart to another love, it brings a welcome distraction and like a mother with many children you can love again in a different way, each one unique and precious.
Thank you for letting us know of beautiful Dandii, may peace be found at the Rainbow Bridge, and that sweet baby knows that there will always be a special place in a loving heart. RIP beautiful Dandii. You will never be forgotten on this earth. Goodnight, sleep tight, in that favorite spot of sun that is forever yours!

    Hi Debie,

If you go to the thread "the cat's meow" you will see that I bumped up my long story of how I lost Simon and Sebastian but how that lead me to my little guy Sylvester, if you look over there you will see it and since you asked to hear our stories there you go.

I hope that it helps you in some way, God Bless.....

The two cats I have lost in the past that hit me the hardest were Gray, the cat I had as a young child, and Berry, a cat I had to rehome because of a grandchild's allergies.

Gray came to live with us when I was seven years old. He was just a little ball of blue fuzz with a pedigree FAR bigger than he was! Russian Blue, and my seventh birthday gift from a friend of my parents who was a breeder. Gray had a pituitary abnormality, and although he was proportioned normally, he grew to be 24 inches tall and to weight, well...between 27-32 pounds of pure muscular fighting tomcat. This was back when it wasn't routine to neuter. He was the terror of the neighborhood dogs, and the best friend of the neighborhood moms, who would call us to let Gray out if the mean dogs were running loose. One sight of Gray and the streets were empty of dogs and the kids could come out to play! He was a terror to dogs (except mine, he actually puppy-sat for her), but totally gentle with children. We used to dress him in doll clothes and plop him in doll strollers, and he would sit there and purr at us. He would take off for weeks at a time, and come home torn to pieces. Daddy would haul him off to the vet, he'd lie around getting well and fat again, and off he would go. It was only several months later, when a local hunter swung by our house with his night's catch, that we realized where Gray was going. The hunter had shot a blue bobcat....Gray was fighting the male bobcats for breeding rights, and HE WAS WINNING! Amazingly for an outdoor tomcat, Gray lived to be about 14 years old. He died within weeks of the dog that he so loved, who was 13. He was one of a kind.

Berry was my long-haired dilute calico. She had, like Hekitty (my avatar) the most amazing green eyes. A lady had heard that I wanted a kitten, and called to tell me that they were going to go DUMP a litter, if I wanted one, to get there that day. I drove over and picked up the entire litter of 5. It killed me to go off and leave the mama cat, but there was nothing I felt I could do. Well, Berry was one of the kittens, and I fell for her HARD. And she for me. I found responsible homes for the other four and Berry was my love and my shadow for 5 years until my granddaughter was born. My son and his fiance were living with me, and Melissa was terrified to bring the baby home with a cat there. I had to make the heartbreaking choice between my beloved cat and my new granddaughter. Thankfully, my dearest friend in Chattanooga adored Berry, and Berry adored her. Cheryl was thrilled to make a home for her, and we got to visit with each other several times a week until Cheryl moved out of state. I got regular updates by email, with pictures, but OH I MISS HER, even still. Berry died at a very ripe old age, every inch a grande dame. Now, Berry, has come to me in dreams off and on, ever since her passing.

The lady I share my life with now is Hekitty. She is the breath of my body, and the song of my soul. She's also a persnickity little brat, and rules my home with an iron paw. I don't know what I will do when it is time to say goodbye to her. I know I will get through it, and that there will be, at some point, another small, furry life sharing mine, but...OH let that time be far, far from now!

There have, in the course of a long life, been other cats that came and went in different ways, but those three are the ones that sank into my very being.

Hi Debie. I am very sorry for your loss. Everyone seems to handle their loss differently, but the truth is that the loss is sometimes unbearable. I lost my Meeks on April 4th and the days after were horrible. I sobbed every single day for weeks. I am better lately but do find myself crying when I visit her grave or when I think about that horrible day.

I have never needed a support group for pet loss until her. The love comfort you get here will help you. I don't think I could have gotten through it with this site and great people here.

I put up a couple light hearted topics for remebering these wonderful, special members of our families we lost in hopes of bringing back smiling memories.

I do feel that commenting to others in hopes of helping them through their grief also helps me. I completely understand what a person is going through when they lose that special pet. I wish I didn't understand but I do.

Forgive me if you already mentioned it and I missed it, but how old was your Dandi? My Meela was just 10 months old. I down knowing I would survive that loss but I'm still here. That's proof that you will too.

I don't know why it changed the name, but my girl was Meela, not Meeks.

Hi Debie I'm so terribly sorry that your baby has left you. I know Dandii must have held an extremely special place in your heart. Unfortunately, when they are that special to us the hurt is amplified when they are gone. Please know that we are all here for you in any way you need. If you want to tell us anything about Dandii we will genuinely be interested in hearing it. Whether it be how you found him, his habits, a cute story about something he did etc. we would love to learn about him. This way we can carry a part of him in our hearts from that moment on.

I noticed that you wanted to hear stories of other peoples cats. If you want to hear about my baby let me know and I will be happy to share. Until then let me tell you just a little bit about myself because I genuinely feel extreme sorrow for your loss. I'm what you would call a "manly man." I don't like to talk about my feelings, I don't get emotional, if I'm hurt (physically or emotionally) I keep it to myself and I generally try to project the image that "nothing bothers me." I guess you can say I'm the stereotype of the old school "Strong and silent type."

However, from the day I found out that my Mew Mew had an non treatable type of cancer all that disciple from above just got ripped apart. I have dealt with some genuinely tough situations in my life but none of them broke down my outside facade of "being tough." I was having constant crying spells as you did and I care about my baby so much that I'm not even embarrassed to type this for the world to see. She meant the world to me and I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that she was leaving me. Its been just two weeks since she left this world and everything still feels empty. So I completely understand the emotions you are dealing with at the moment.

Please let us know how your doing since you last posted. We are all here for you.
