She gets tiny crumbs of poop on my bed and has gotten two poop stains on my bed sheet. She doesn’t have a hairy bum and she isn’t overweight or sick. She’s eating, drinking and going to the litter box normally. Is this normal for an almost 3 month old kitten? And if so, when do cats start to groom their butts and how can I encourage her to clean herself? She knows how to groom the rest of herself, just not her bum.

She is just a baby yet and is too active to clean herself properly. A twelve-week-old kitten has a mom and siblings in the wild to learn things like this, she will, but it will take a few months longer. Make sure she isn't getting any cow's milk products, cats become lactose intolerant as they get older and it may loosen her stools. You may want to get a light sheet and cover your bed for a while, I do this anyway to keep the cat hair from my bedspread.
