I agree that I would like to have more information, but just from what little we know, I would have to think that the cats aren't properly cared for and really shouldn't be in that situation. I KNOW they can't be getting enough love and attention, even if they happen to be well fed and vetted. Nobody has time to pet and snuggle that many cats in a day.Originally Posted by sarahp
Well fed cats don't respond like that to food - only starving cats would respond that desperately to food. Pretty much all the cats were climbing over each other to get the food, and they were grabbing as many biscuits as fast as possible.
It cannot be hygienic for anyone to have that many cats in such a small place.

I totally agree. At least someone is feeding them and helping them survive.Originally Posted by jennyranson
I am not condoning it, but remember guys - this is in Russia, where Western standards of animal care, vet care etc, just do not apply. Things like grooming, toys etc do not exist at all. The choice is probably for these cats to be on the streets (and in winter the temp can be -20 from Oct to March with deep snow) or to be 'rescued' by someone like this lady who at least tries.
Does jumping over each other have to mean they are starving? I have to keep my 3 cats seperate when preparing their meals otherwise they would jump over each other too, its what cats do. My babies are far from under fed.Originally Posted by GingersMom
OMG those poor cats look like they are STARVING!!!! Look at them jumping over each other - I agree, she is DEFINITELY a hoarder.
In another room perhaps. How does she vet them? maybe she's like that Chinese lady who has 1200 cats and as spent millions of Chinese yuan to support them.Originally Posted by GingersMom
Where are the litter pans? Where are the water dishes? How does she vet them?
Why must you want to judge her for at least trying to do her best for these cats, what if she lives in the Urals or something?Originally Posted by GingersMom
There really isn't enough info in the video to allow us to make a judgement OTHER than she appears to be a hoarder.
As I mentioned above my cats react similarly, and according to the vets they are of excellent weight for their age. Fed large meals twice a day.Originally Posted by sarahp

The tape was 21.82 seconds long give or take 30/100 of a second and all you saw was part of that 1 room, who knows how large the house is?Originally Posted by sarahp

Thank you Jenny, that is well put.Originally Posted by jennyranson

Ya that's true, but they deserve love and attention, and she could give them a little bit more room!Originally Posted by jennyranson

Just because someone has a lot of cats doesn't mean their more of a cat lover than someone else. Moonlight is my only cat and it doesn't mean someone on here with 7 cats is more of a cat lover than me.No one knows her circumstances, why she has that many, how they are cared for, how many people are actually helping her like if she has family. She loves cats as much as you or I, yet because she's got a large number, she is the subject of criticism.
I was saying that to the response someone made that they can't possibly get enough attention. So I simply meant she doesn't love any of them less coz she has 130 of them.Originally Posted by moonlights mom

I think so too! I was amazed at how clean and orderly the room looked, considering! The cats all had bright eyes and the most amazing thing I saw was that there was no fighting while she was feeding them! Shoot...Boo hisses and growls at my other two kitties if they even get near her dish! And all those kiddie chairs! I know my girls used to love laying in my daughter's chairs. I would much rather see this many cats in such obvious good condition, than to see 5 or 6 in horrid living conditions. I commend her for having that much love of kitties.Originally Posted by hissy
I've been aware of this video for awhile. Here are a couple of my observations:
Cats are healthy
No skinny bony cats, no runny eyes, runny nose
No kittens showing therefore i suspect she does spay and neuter
She lives in Russia, these cats were taken off the street. They would be dead otherwise
I suspect she doesn't keep them in that room all the time, only did it for the video aspect
My hat is off to her. I have been in hoarders homes, she is not a hoarder. She loves these cats and it shows.
