My kitten had a fever and needed antibiotics (clavamox). It's been almost 2 full weeks since his last dose and he still refuses to eat out of a bowl or plate. I've tried several different foods, different plates and bowls, different dish soap, the floor, using his regular dish that has his dry food, a piece of clean cardboard, and warming his food. He seems really interested in it if i put his paws in it, he even traces his steps and licks the floor, but he will only eat if it's in my hand. While he was on the antibiotics, he didn't want his food. I could only get him to drink kmr and he'd sometimes (rarely) eat his dry kitten food mixed in with it. But now, even offering him the kmr, he will only lick it off my finger. Nothing in the house or neighborhood is different. The only thing I can think is he got used to being babied while he was sick. He eats every 6 to 7 hours. I've tried feeding him again in an hour, then again the next hour, and even gone as far as making him wait until his next feeding time, unless he showed signs of being hungry sooner but even then he only eats out of my hand. How do I change this behavior or what else can I try?
