Good suggestion. I used totes for a long time and may need to switch back. I really prefer the cardboard for sanitary reasons and weight reasons. Washing out a tote is heavy work bc they hold so much litter to be dumped, and liquid as you wash. Plus they get to smelling after a while with...
Denice, I am so glad to know I am not alone with my "wall-peers." One actually has the *nerve* to get on her tippytoes and raise her butt above the edge of the litterbox. Lliterally pees on the wall [which I've had to cover with plastic]: Grrrr
She's 5 or 6 months - she had had a litter by the time I got her from someone unable to care for her. I am hoping to get the kitten adopted -- she has impeccable manners, except with other cats
I had JUST started fostering her when the Coronavirus hit ...!
I have three s/f ladies 12 yoa who have been using Nature's Miracle corncob cat litter for the last, eight months, I think. I use the disposable pressed paper pulp cat boxes for the litter [that way I can chuck the whole mess out when it's time for the litter to be completely changed out...
If you can get some glass marbles or some small pebbles, try covering the dirt in your plant's pot with those. Supposedly cats will not dig at pebbles, and glass marbles would defy her efforts ;)
That way you can still water the plant and kitty won't track potting soil everywhere. Good luck!
Hi, HRM's "servant," you may find GNC's Ultra Mega Anti-Anxiety cat treats will work, after the initial dose of pills run out. Not a shill here, I just use them for my big guy so he can chill out a bit. Otherwise he's a total dingdong to his lady "sisters" who have been with me a lot longer.
A lady friend whose cat had passed away in late November met with my friend Tom, whose neighbors abandoned several perfectly friendly cats. Apparently, after Le Divorce, the husband said he "would take care of them." Har, har.
Luckily Tom, the "cat magnet," has been feeding, socializing, and...
Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try the cornstarch if the stud tail doesn't go away on its own.
I haven't really caught him with a nail stuck in fabric. But I'll see if I can trim one when he's drowsy.
Jack is a big guy who just got neutered a couple of months ago. He's about three years old. I estimate he's 10-12# and he packs a wallop in those big ol' paws of his.
He doesn't bear picking up gladly, and his claws are now pretty sharp. He came in from the apartment complex parking lot to stay...
I use Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat clumping litter; it's about the same texture as Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat but cheaper, and is more lightly scented than many other litters. I now have a big boy who I swear pees more than my other two cats combined! At least he pees in the center of the box instead of...
Otherwise, that food will just slide on through
Even though I gave a wrong estimate on time, I stand by my pumpkin/Metamucil advice. I haven't had to use Laxatone in years. Only had one cat who liked it.
Sometimes they're hungry out of "habit."
Sometimes they're hungry bc of a thyroid issue.
If your cat was obese, she probably just wants to eat, but a vet visit is well-advised.
Another possible explanation for her change in behavior could be displaced aggression. If a strange cat appeared...
Oh my yes, a crucial question! Because if he's not neutered the other cat could be attacking a perceived "threat" to his territory.
Big meanie is probably unneutered and patrols a territory that includes your yard. I know one human who goes out and pees on the borders of his yard to keep out...
Probably half an hour..
If you're giving it for hairballs, you can instead give a tsp of unsweetened canned pumpkin several times a week. (No petrolatum in that)
Or stir 1/8 tsp (for a ten-pound cat) unflavored Metamucil into his food with a good amount of water.
My Jack (yes, I have one...
Get your gentle cat inside out of harm's way. Maybe the mean cat will go somewhere else or find some voles to "play" with. I know your cat will miss his sun spots in the yard, but he'll be safe indoors. Enrich his time indoors with you by playing with him (gets the "ya-yas" out) and petting and...
