    Probiotic Without Yeast

Hi all, I read that yeast-based probiotics can cause issues for some cats. My cat has history of yeast overgrowth. Does anyone know of a non yeast-based product? The ones I've looked at have at least one strain of yeast. Thanks!

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

The vet emailed the results of Binkie's PCR test and she does NOT have ringworm or fungal growth. Yay! But could it be parasite or bacteria? She is on Revolution. I plan to call the vet and ask over the phone. I know it may be food allergies or stress. I already know she is prone to food issues...

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

Latest update: Still waiting for lab results regarding hair loss. The Zlykene seems to be making a difference (slight at best) just 2 doses later (225 mg per day, according to my vet) so I am hopeful that with more time the calming effect becomes more pronounced, as others have said it does...

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

The vet took samples from the ears and we awaiting results to see if it is still yeast, other fungus, bacteria, etc. The yeast was confirmed a while ago (2 months ago, same time as around her dental surgery) before I started ear treatment/cleanings with anti fungal solution once a week.

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

Thank you, I have been submitting questions about applying for financial aid/funding to a few places that were provided via the links in my last post. So far it is hard to find places that cover dental care. That is the big one she would need.

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

I can try using gloves but she shakes her head during ear cleaning and some "stuff" gets on me, even on my lips before. I should know about ringworm in a few days per my vet. I really hope it's not that...she is an indoor only cat so how could she even get it? Her fur loss has not worsened BUT...

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

Here is the last post for those who had not followed: Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat Anyone who has been following knows I am emotionally, mentally, and financially exhausted with caring for Binkie in the 1.5 years I've had her. She is 7 years old. I took Binkie to a cat specialist clinic...

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

So, now with the current issues: the diarrhea has stopped but the fur loss continues, above one eye and on both ears. It has been about 3 days. My thought was that if it does not start growing back soon to take Binkie to the vet. Maybe I should make an appointment for this weekend now, to be...

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

Binkie's problems started with diarrhea from what I believe were food allergies. I did a lot of trials with different cat foods. This finally resolved with upgrading her diet to Tiki Cat - I was happy to spend more on food that made her feel better. She then got crystals and had bleeding in the...

    Can't Handle Chronically Ill Cat

Guys, I am beside myself. My cat has had so many health problems since I adopted her in Fall 2017. We have spent upwards of 5k on vet bills, mostly with help from family. The emotional and mental toll medicating, chasing, and restraining my sick and skiddish cat has taken on me is high. She...

    Stage 1 Kidney Disease?

Hi all, My vet said that although Binkie's labs are normal, the kidney indicator labs are on the high end of normal, and said that she may have Stage 1 kidney disease. She said Binkie may need prescription food for this at some point when the disease progresses. I hear that the prescription...

Ear Gunk Less But Remaining After Cleaning 1 Week

Hi all I have been using an anti-fungal cleaning solution and antibiotic ointment in my cat's ears for one week. Today is the last day. I still am getting some brown gunk out each time I clean use a gauze pad to scrub the inside...but it's the last day of treatment so my concern is do I need to...

    Warming Ear Solution

Hi all, It's been suggested I warm Binkie's ear flushing solutions before applying it, to decrease discomfort. How does one do this? Can I put the bottle in a warm water bath? Or something else if warming it up that way will ruin the solution? Also...why is it that she is catching on now to...

    Applying Ear Medications

Hi there, I am supposed to apply KET flush to binkie's ear canals, wipe the debris with a gauze, and then place 3 drops of ointment in the canal. She shakes her head and I think a lot of the flush gets lost that way...how can I make sure it is really getting into her canals well? She struggles...

    Pet Insurance

So what do you all think, those of you with knowledge of how pet insurance works?

    Pet Insurance

Hi, no the vet did NOT ascribe a cause for either the eye or ear infection. Does this mean there is no pre existing condition, and if she were to get infections again but we had insurance the treatment would be covered? Now, this all occurred around the same time she had dental extractions, but...

    Pet Insurance

Hi all I adopted binkie last year when she was 6, from a shelter. I took her in today and she was given systemic antibiotic, ear drops for ear infection, and eye drop for eye infection. It was $500, on top of the $3000 dental surgery from Friday. I know pet insurance doesn't cover dental but...

    Eye Discharge

Hi all, I posted a few days ago - my cat had emergency dental surgery after knocking a tooth out, while running away from us trying to put antibiotic drops in her for an eye infection. (I had thought it was just allergies at first since it was just watery leakage and she was sneezing..but after...
