Having some doubts about feral/stray girl. Should I return her?

I am certain that she was born in this colony. The colony has several distinct traits and she matches them to a T. Their normal caretaker is there nearly every day of the week, every week, year in and year out, so many of the cats have known her their entire lives and warmed up to her and...

Let's Babble Our Way to Post #4,000,000 And Win Prizes Too!

Oh most definitely. Even different shoes from the same brand don't have the same fit, so I will often end up sending pairs back, and for months or even a year I'll be trying to find just one pair that fits properly. That's terrible that the store just stopped selling shoes like that! Makes me...

Having some doubts about feral/stray girl. Should I return her?

I can say for certain that she was born and raised outside, so she's not stray in that sense. There are days when I can give her more time than others, but the time she would truly need is time I'm not sure I have. I'll have her for three more weeks to finish her vet care anyways. I've thought...

I can certainly relate. I wear a very uncommon size shoe and I cannot find shoes anywhere but online, and even there it's hard to find shoes. Ill fitted shoes wreak havoc on feet over the years, so you'd think stores could give a little more care to specialty sizes. :/

Having some doubts about feral/stray girl. Should I return her?

I think the issue is I'm not planning to keep her myself, and the amount of time it would take to get her to the point where my shelter or any might take her will take time and resources that I could give to other cats (especially since there are several kittens in that colony and one tom who is...

@Tallyollyopia Have you tried Danskos or other Klog-type shoes? A well made and well fitted pair gives pretty good arch support. Also, are you totally sure your shoes are the right fit? It's a small detail that can have big consequences. I lost some sensation in part of my toe due to ill...

Having some doubts about feral/stray girl. Should I return her?

I've posted about it before, but I've had this feral girl, Aria, for about two weeks. I'm not the best at judging cat ages, but I think Aria is about one year old. I currently have Aria in a small/medium dog crate with litter and water. I feed her wet food twice a day and give her a little bit...

Let's Babble Our Way to Post #4,000,000 And Win Prizes Too!

Ugh new cat stress. Caught a cat from a colony two weeks ago. I have her in a dog crate in the living room and she's doing pretty well. Purrs when I pet her, she even laid down against me while I was petting her. I think she's making good progress, but my shelter coordinator is pushing me to...

Let's Babble Our Way to Post #4,000,000 And Win Prizes Too!

Thanks! I know I'd at least want an apology, so it's only fair to do the same for someone else. Plus, people are more willing to work with you if you own up! I might be able to explain her circumstances and admit her without the trap. I won't know what they'll be willing to do for me until I...

Good advice. They take ferals without an appointment, but I'll call ahead since her case is unusual.  They only admit ferals who are in traps, so it'll be interesting 'trapping' her in my own home.

Let's Babble Our Way to Post #4,000,000 And Win Prizes Too!

I caught a semi-feral cat a few days ago. I want to try socialization instead of just TNR, however, I have a bit of a dilemma.  The girl has yet to be fixed, and the place I plan to take her to does both ferals and housecats. Housecats are a flat rate which includes the surgery and pain meds...

@Rhondalee  Absolutely. I can't believe they would leave a dent and not even say a word! It's not like they didn't notice that they dented the car!

@Rhondalee  No, the bag's fine. The piece was some sort of accessory that just clips or sits in place. It just snapped before I could even tell something was caught on the bag. The person actually just called and thankfully they weren't mad. They were even glad that I left the info instead of...

Let's Babble Our Way to Post #4,000,000 And Win Prizes Too!

Accidentally damaged some sort of plastic guard on someone's car today. Left the broken piece on their windshield with a note under it. Hopefully it's cheap to replace. The kicker is that I wasn't in my car when that happened. I was just walking by the car and the piece caught on my bag and...

Caught a feral or semi-feral cat outdoors - what to do with her?

Thanks! That's really encouraging to hear from all of you! She seems a little less freaked out today. She peed on the floor, but I actually think it went a ways towards calming her. She ate some wet food, even! She also didn't protest when I gave her some head scritches. She'd been hiding in a...

Caught a feral or semi-feral cat outdoors - what to do with her?

I go by a feral colony maybe a few times a month. They have a regular caretaker who's done some TNR, but there's still a couple girls who haven't been fixed. While out to get a different cat two days ago, one of those girls walked into my cat carrier and I put a hand behind her and closed the...

Does anyone foster in an apartment or house with pet fees? How do you handle it?

The owner of the cat got in touch yesterday. He looks like a well cared for kitty, and I'll confirm that he's up to date on medical care and neutered. I'll be picking him up Tuesday, so I can take tomorrow to talk to the complex. It's not exactly through the shelter. The woman who runs it is a...

Does anyone foster in an apartment or house with pet fees? How do you handle it?

I'll be forstering a cat for several months starting this week. He's a grey tabby boy. I'm pretty sure that he's fixed at 2 years of age. The family is in a dire situation and doesn't want to abandon him, but can't care for him for a while. This would be my first foster, and I live in an...

Cat growls when picked up, scratches/bites hands unprovoked

I'm babysitting a family member's cat for the next two weeks. She's met my cat Dali several times and the two are familiar with one another, but I plan to keep them separated for the most part.  The relative's cat, Rosa, is about 1 year old. She was adopted at a couple weeks/months old, from a...

Caring for a Group of Strays/Ferals - Advice?

So, my partner and I met the person who's been leaving food and water for them for several years. They got two of the kittens earlier today and adopted them out, but there is one kitten left who seems unapproachable. The kittens are right at 6 wees according to the caretaker, and it sounds like...
