I believe you! Our boy is 'King off the Road' and a klutz. He recovers from his prat falls like he meant them, everyonbe else is just stupid. Still, he insists on close contact whenever he wishes.
Our Lexi sets us up - he can open most doors in the house and it's kind of spooky to find a cat in the shower with you! And that's not all! He leaps out of the washing machine, wardrobes, bread bin, etc... and laughs!
He hides in clothes, under blankets and makes a noise as if to say, 'Gotcha!'...
My teenage cat (15 months) works wonders with the wood chip litter we use - and odours are not an issue.
A quick scoop morning and evening, empty once a week and all's rosy.
Mine washes his face and as others have observed, drinks from his paw as one would drink from a cupped hand. I read that water bowls should be wide, to accommodate the cat's whiskers and have obliged, but still, brushing my teeth means wrestling with the cat for sink space!
He's fascinated by...

Very special! My babe 'washes' his face in running water and is fascinated by the toilet, so we keep the lid down so he doesn't get into mischief there - what with the chemicals I use to clean it. Same with the bath and shower - I keep the bathroom door closed after a cleaning with products...
I understand your feelings, yet I'm pretty sure my cat would be first out of the house. He's a bit of a klutz, but he's not daft!
Yours is quite a cutie, judging from the photo...
If you were marooned on a desert island, which three books - electronic or otherwise - would you have with you?
Or imagine your home is on fire. Which three things would you take with you?
Our priorities speak volumes about us. What's most important to you?
Like I wrote, I don't dismiss people who prefer the electronic. As it is written, 'to each his own.'
I use them every day and night - electronics, I mean! Reading and writing on screen is a part of daily life for most of us. Maybe that' why I find it so unremarkable, such a non-event.
So...
Highlighting, bookmarking, etc., electronically is to me like editing my written work on screen: I'm happiest doing the thinking with the physical presence of the work. Then I go back to the computer and do the 'mechanics' on screen. It's the same with making notes on books. And I still carry a...
I haven't given up on making my room more cat-attractive; a new climbing tower might help, I think. Like I say, he follows me in there and is happy to just be with me there and to fall asleep with me. I just don't want him to get anxious if I have to - temporarily - close the spare room door to...
We've had him for two weeks now. His name is Lexus - the name of the car his previous owner's dad had.
We just call him 'Lex' or 'Lexi'. I don't think he cares much. He lets us know when he wants attention, in no uncertain terms! He's hilarious. Cats are supposed to be graceful and light on...
Too true - an upset kitty is not desirable in any way!
Sure, while I'm in the hospital, my room is the best place for my friend, but she's staying awhile longer while I convalesce - not allowed to lift so much as a kettle for 6 weeks.
I could simply take the spare room, I just wonder how I'll...
catspaw66, I concur completely: I have a first edition of Cowper's Poems and a children's history school text by Charles Dickens, (among a few others), and they are a pleasure to hold, like my cat.
Isn't it amazing how tactile is happiness? Or how much our olfactory sense conjures memory or...
How am I to get my cat out of the spare room and into the general life of the household?
He's loved, fussed-over, well fed, cared for, but always retires to 'his room'. A house guest is due and I don't know how to expand his horizons, as it were. Any ideas on how to re-position his tray and food?
All good advice!
I'm working with a similar challenge and any advice gratefully received.
A couple of weeks ago, I welcomed our new cat, (18 months old, neutered, etc.), to our home and initially put him in our spare room so he wouldn't get lost in our old 3 storey home with all its nooks and...
Yes. My Bengal cross, Lex, follows me into the shower, prefers drinking from a running tap and doesn't shy away during washing-up - he seems fascinated by water. Is your cat part Bengal by any chance? It is typical of that breed, so I've read.
Technology is great - yet I wonder if I'm alone in loving the look, feel and smell of a book.
I have plenty of paperbacks that bear the scars of being dropped in the bath; I underline or bracket passages I particularly love and make notes in margins...can't do any of that with an e-book.
I...
Agreed, betsygee, my first 'soul cat' came to me, not vice versa.
My Bengal baby follows me like a shadow unless my boys are around. The boys aren't kids - 16 and 17 respectively - and are nothing but kindness and consideration. Yet, my kitty won't leave the third floor when he knows the boys...
