The Texas Group has volunteers called the 'Fur Flyers' who serve as a chaperone of sorts for kitties flying home. We like to fly our cats when possible. Much less stressful, shorter traveling time, etc when done correctly.
We're always looking for people who travel frequently between DFW and...
Texas Siamese Rescue recently took in an abused five month old kitten named Rumples.
At first, he walked on his right front elbow - it looked like joint problems on first sight. We got him in our Vet right away and they found an infection in
the joint. So after a week of aggressive IV...
I volunteer with Texas Siamese Rescue and I know we are working with a foster home in your area. Please check our website and maybe you can find a kitty close to home.
You are smart to recommend your parents get an adult cat. Siamese do live 20+ years. This is a long term committment, so it...
I thought I'd cross post this message here in case anyone is looking to adopt. There are over 70 cats available, all ages and colors. Contact the rescue group if you can help:

I am writing to give everyone an update on the Cornelius, NC Persian/Himalayan collector situation...
Here's the latest update I have received...directly from Tiny Tim himself! He's asking for a new bike for Christmas. Can you help?
"Hi there everyone!
My name is Little Tyke and sometimes people call me Tiny Tim. I got rescued in Houston and Siamese Rescue Alliance took me even though...
If you're really interested in him, go ahead and submit an application for him. (You can find the app on our website.) All of our adoptions go through the Director of Texas Siamese Rescue, no matter which city they are fostered in.
We do have a member in Houston who holds Adoption Days at the...
I got this update a few days ago...sorry I've been so slow posting it. We have more hope now!
----------------------
I am quoting to you from the letter sent by the consulting surgeons on Little Tyke in October.
This is written by Nancy Zimmerman-Pope, DVM, MS Consulting physician at Dallas...
I just sent an email of my own. I agree, her money would be better spent on spay/neuters. She should consider only rescuing previously declawed cats. Maybe if she sees all the behavior problems this procedure causes, she would support a nationwide ban on declawing! I do!
First LA, now San...
Subject: LITTLE TYKE TX2919 AKA TINY TIM
Little Tyke from Houston AKA Tiny Tim is in danger.
He appears severely deformed - his rear legs stick forward almost straight out between his forelegs.
He copes well, bottom scooting at high kitten speeds and hauling himself up incredible...
Mothers Day for Cats
A New Way to Celebrate
An Article by Your Guide Franny Syufy
Awhile back, I caught the tail-end of a TV news shot about two kittens that had been born within the walls of a ghetto apartment. I flipped the channel on in time to see the animal control...
One of my friends swears by tuna fish oil. After some preparation, when the kitties are ready to meet face to face, she 'annoints' each cat on the top of it's head with oil. That way they both smell the same (yummy!) to each other.
This is after she has introduced them to each other's scent...
this is a cool FUNdraiser sponsored by the Neuteress of the Night!
If you purchase one of these, please specify it is for Feral Folks of Austin in the comments field...and they will send a $5 donation to them to help spay and neuter ferals in the Austin metroplex!
Thanks...
I wonder if he has considered buying govt foreclosed property. In Texas each county has an auction every month...some start as low as $500...just depends on the property value and how much property tax is owed. A place out in the country is pretty cheap and there would be fewer restrictions on...
this is pretty crazy. I haven't had time to read through the law links yet, but there has to be something you can do. In Austin, if a dog enters your yard you can legally detain it, even take it to the pound if you want, or keep it. One of my rescue friends lives in a 'WT' neighborhood and is...
There are only a few posted right now. Also updates 'from the field' on the condition of the cats and the progress we are making. Some of it is a bit graphic...just be forewarned. Some of the cats are just skin and bones. This is a truly horrible situation. Thank God we can get them out of...
I'm forwarding this onto my group, Austin Siamese Rescue. We're always looking for new fundraising ideas. You can contact the entire group at [email protected]
Thanks for all you do!
where are you located?
Is this shelter a 501(c)3 non-profit organization? If so, talk to major corporations in your area that offer matching funds on donations made by their employees.
Some corporations have a week every year when they promote volunteerism and monetary donations. See if you...
We have received help from as far away as Oklahoma City...a shower there will be fostering 5-6 cats for us! I have contacted some of the CFA showers I met at a recent show and they have been a big help and very supportive!
Now we just need to find permanent homes! Although the SA cats may not...
I kinda doubt he was showing these animals. 200 is insane. He lived out in the country...I think he may have been breeding for profit. I was just forwarded a copy of a newpaper article...here it is:
Here's an article that was in today's Austin American-Statesman, Metro Section.
