Good news about Pete (rehomed dog)

I talked to my friend who adopted Pete from me and she is absolutely in love. She says she will never let him go. He runs around all day and snuggles her all night. I knew she was right for him! As hard as it was I am glad I did the right thing. 10084Pete

    Dog starting to show aggression

So Pete (14 weeks) has started growling at everything. I am not sure at what point it is ok to admit that he isn't a good fit. I am trying really hard. I think if it were just me to consider he would be perfect. But my children come first and my cats are very dear to me. He has bit two of my...

    Puppy nipping stage

First of all Pete has gotten better with the cats. He listens to the "leave it" command and they have been close enough to touch and have ignored each other. I have 3 kids. Ages 9, 7.5, and 5.5. My youngest who has some minor health issues is jealous of Pete and has either tried to get puppy...

    New dog chases cats.

So I have wanted a dog for a long time. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to dog sit for some neighbors and I really enjoyed walking him every day (and lost 9 pounds!). So I began searching for the perfect dog for our family. I found a rescue dog that was described as good with children...

    Worried about spay

I haven't posted in a long long time. In June my mom brought me a week old orphan kitten. I fed her kmr out of a dropper every 2 hours at night and day until she was 6 weeks old. She had trouble learning to eat because of an overbite. She has grown beautifully and is the sweetest thing. My...

    small or crisscross kibble

So I was thinking...since Molly has such a bad overbite maybe she will do better with a smaller size kibble or a crisscross shaped kibble. Keep in mind she is only 7.5 weeks old now, right now she will only eat pate style canned kitten food. I have tried chunky wet food and she can't eat it...

little orphan Molly had her first vet visit today....and HELP!!

So I estimated my little orphan kitten to be 7 weeks old on Tuesday. So I had scheduled her first vet visit for today. I planned on getting her first shots, making sure she is a girl, and making sure she is healthy and all that. First...the vet weighed her and she is only a pound, so they...

    Finally! Progress!!

Molly turned 6 weeks old on Tuesday. She has been uninterested in wet food up until this point. I was basically forcing a little into her mouth with a plastic spoon. Finally today she started eating it off by herself! Then I lowered the spoon into the flat dish and finally she seems to get it!!

    aproximately 5 weeks old today

My little orphan is 5 weeks old today by our guess. I have had her since she was 1 and a half weeks old. We have finally agreed on a name, chosen by my 4 year old. Her name is Molly. As long as she is a she lol. It is fun to watch her grow into a real kitten. She uses her litterbox...

    kitten shivers

my orphan...(4.5 weeks old) shivers...it is only when I let her out for her once a day supervised explore walk around, or after I give her a (warm) washcloth bath. She never shivers in her box or when she is sleeping. Normal, or concerning....

    kitten feeding burn out!

My little orphan is doing good. She is a little over 4 weeks old and way more aware of her surroundings. She also can walk really well now. It is cute to watch her walk around when I take her out of her box for supervised playtime. She also has just started using her litterbox by herself. I...

how do you teach an orphan?

As my little baby comes close to 3 weeks old I have a few questions. How do you teach a kitten how to use the litterbox? How do you teach a kitten how to groom herself (and keep her clean in the meantime)? Thanks!

    eye concern

So forgive me if this is an unintelligent post... My orphan kitten came to me with her eyes open little slits...that was Saturday. So she has basically had them open for a week that I know of, and she will be 3 weeks old on Tuesday (a guess, not exact date). I know that their vision is not...

    my little baby

This is my little baby. I am pretty sure she is a girl. I need a name. I have been calling her "Fergie" (think black eyed peas) but I am not sure that is the best fit. My other cats are Raven and Jack. Help me name her?

who would be the better home?

Ok...so I have posted a little bit about the orphan kitten I am taking care of. There were two kittens to begin with but one died right away. They had belonged to one of my moms new barn cats that abandoned them. The original plan was that my mom would take one and I would take one. And she...

    little orphan Squeaky

I took in 2 orphan kittens for my mom on Saturday, a week and a half old, and the little tabby girl Squeaky died Sunday morning. I did the best I could but I wanted to write a little line out of respect for her. \\ The best mamma for a kitten is a mamma cat.

    taking care of an orphan

My mom wanted some more barn cats so a cousin gave her some of hers. One of the cats was a mamma with 2 kittens. Apparently they were very scared and the adults all ran off. My mom left the kittens out for a night to see if mamma came back for them, but she didn't. So my mom took them in and...
