Adopting out cats as gifts to spouses

I actually have allowed a kitten to be adopted as a gift for a spouse, but that was because they had discussed getting a kitten and decided what they were looking for...the surprise was really just the "when." Worked out wonderfully. But, if it had been an older cat with a distinct personality...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

strangewings, I'm not sure whether the kitten was PB or mixed breed, it was only a day or two old and I never saw it. I do think that there was a very good chance she came from a (very bad) BYB situation as she has always seemed content to be crated and will even crate herself if the door is...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

The pet store I went to didn't carry the litter, so I'll be going to a different one tomorrow. Let's see if I can remember to answer all of the questions. In May, the vet felt that she was around three years old. But, based on her condition, she could have been younger and just poorly cared...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

She's been doing it since I've had her...at first we chalked it up to poor health, then we thought it might be crystals, then we thought it was litter, then we thought it was the food, etc. Who knows what it is...I just know that it really needs to stop, because while I can scrub my carpets here...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

Ha Ha, I know, she doesn't "look" evil I can try cat attract litter...I had been holding off because I didn't want to go back to clay litter, but I just googled it and it doesn't look like it *is* clay. And, I'm sure it is because she's unhappy about something. She's unhappy about...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

I've never tried regular dirt. Not sure what she would think about that, lol. I honestly don't hate this cat, she's just driving me crazy at the moment. If I could just get her to use the litter box, I could deal with all of her other quirks. Unfortunately, I'm fostering this one on my own...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

It's okay. I was just frustrated when I posted. I spent all afternoon scrubbing my carpets. Claire is not confined to the bathroom until I can get in to see the vet again. It's Feline Pine, the fine/scoopable type. But this is litter number three since she started. We've tried covered boxes...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

Rosie- I can't quit brushing her or she'll mat very badly--she's Persian. I have to have her sedated to be shaved down, so I avoid that if at all possible. I will investigate the flea allergy as I do believe she has a mild flea allergy. She's on prevention, but I imagine she could have gotten...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

She practically lived at the vet's office the first three months she was here. Like I said, I wish the solution was that simple. I was going to schedule an appointment to see the vet about putting her on mood altering meds, so she will be going back soon anyways. One of the vets in the...

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

I've only seen her doing it once, and I reacted negatively But, she has been doing this since May and that happened this week, so I don't think that is the problem. I wish that was the problem though!

Vent: I am going to strangle this cat.

Arggghh! Just venting to avoid throwing my foster cat out on her behind. She has "accidents" directly outside my bedroom door every morning. If I move something in front of her spot, she finds another inappropriate place to go. My landlord is going to FLIP out if she does not stop this. No, it's...

Sudden feces elimination on dining room floor, HELP!

Having the same problem with my foster cat, also a purebred (Persian) oddly. I've tried everything you've tried and am moving on to meds the next time we go to the vet.

    Unsteady Kitten...Rear leg weakness

Just wanted to update those of you who posted suggestions. I took the kittens to the vet because they were getting runny eyes, and while I was there I asked about the wobbly kitten. They vet looked at her and said that she didn't have any ideas, they it could just be that her cerebellum is...

    Unsteady Kitten...Rear leg weakness

No, the movement is unsteady/unpredictable but it is limited to the back legs and much, much, much less severe. If I can figure out how to upload a video, I will. It's not even noticeable at first glance, it's very mild.

    Unsteady Kitten...Rear leg weakness

Currently unemployed grad student. I can barely afford to feed them. If they get worse or act uncomfortable, I will borrow money from someone. But, for the time being, the kitten has been maintaining the status quo for the past three + weeks, so I don't think it is something progressive. I'll...

    Unsteady Kitten...Rear leg weakness

Hmm...it doesn't sound like any of the things listed. I don't think it's CH because it's only the rear end of the kitten affected. I did notice that another kitten in the litter does seem unsteady on one side of his back end as well, so it definitely could be something mom had while pregnant, I...

    Unsteady Kitten...Rear leg weakness

I have five foster kittens from the same litter, and one of the kittens has an atypical gait and rear leg weakness. She walks like a much younger kitten and falls over when she runs. She is also much smaller than most of the other kittens in the litter (she and one other kitten are the same...

    Bleeding after birth? Normal?

Thanks. Claire is back from the vet's office; the vet said that the antibiotics should combat any infection that she might have been developing. The vet didn't notice any blood in her cage this morning, so she sent her home. After being home about an hour, she is still bleeding, and it's bright...
