    Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

I so appreciate the condolences. It is a tough time for all of us right now. Hissy and Sadisticookie, thanks so much for sharing your stories (Hissy, feel free to pm me with the link to your article...i'd like to read it). It is a horrible illness and no one should have to go through it. I think...

    Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Thanks so much for the kind words. We let Fred go today. He had a rough day yesterday and we decided to end it before he got any worse. He will be very missed, but he is at peace now.

    Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

I haven't posted for quite some time, and I'm sorry to be back here with such bad news. One of our kitties, Fred, has oral cancer. Although he lives with my parents, I still very much consider him my cat since I was still living at home when we adopted him. I'm devastated. He's about 16 (we're...

    Evangers

FYI to people who feed Evangers. Looks like the owners may be in some legal trouble. Thankfully it doesn't have anything to do with their pet food, but it might not bode well for the company. Saw this link on another forum: http://www.suntimes.com/entertainmen...032410.article

    Sad day

Please keep a good thought for some dear friends of mine who are sending their 15 year old kitty to the bridge today. He's been going downhill for the last several weeks and it appears that he has advanced kidney failure and possible cancer, among other things. They lost their other elderly cat...

    Food for FLUTD

I am using Wysong Uretic right now and so far I'm happy. I gradually transitioned the cats from the Royal Canin SO which was prescribed for my male kitty after developing crystals this summer. He was on the SO dry for about 3 months, and when he had his regular check up and urineanalysis in the...

    Should I get a dog?

I had similar concerns about bringing a dog in, but we also went the route of getting an older dog that was considered cat safe, and everything has been great so far! However, we also adopted a breed known as the "45 mph couch potato" (greyhound)...I can't tell you how true that description is...

    Added second cat...Resident cat unhappy?

My first cat, who has always been extremely affectionate, also became more withdrawn when we got our second kitty a couple of years ago. I made sure to give him a lot of extra attention and after a while he did bounce back, and the two cats are very friendly with eachother. She was also a kitten...

I need some vet advice..should I switch vets?

It sounds like you have a good overall relationship with your vet, so I wouldn't be worried about asking questions. I do it all the time for my animals! Right now I go to a feline only practice for my 2 cats and they are great. They get the 1 year Purevax rabies shot and 3 year distemper. When I...

How do you eat a mouse?

This brings back memories of our indoor/outdoor cats we had when I was growing up. We'd often find dismembered rodents on the welcome mat...one of the kitties definitely had a thing for decapitation as well.

My cat is sneezing on me on purpose!

I don't know where you are located, but I have a cat that has allergies and tends to sneeze more when we turn on the heat in the fall, probably because of the drier air and possibly dust coming up from the heating vents. I agree with others that it's most likely some kind of irritant that sets...

Is there a dog forum like this?

I belong to www.dogforums.com and also www.greytalk.com. The second one is geared toward greyhound owners, but there are a lot of non-grey owners on there too and there is a lot of good general information on dogs. I've found both forums to be helpful and supportive, much like this one.

What do you feed your kitties?

My two get wet food twice a day, mostly rotating between flavors of Max Cat, Fancy Feast and ProPlan. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck converting them to the higher quality canned foods. I free feed the dry food. My male developed UTI issues over the summer so I had to switch them to Royal...

    Wellness Core - some issues

Core is extremely rich. I tried transitioning our dog to it on recommendation of the adoption group and he definitely experienced digestive upset so we're now trying out one of the other Wellness formulas. I haven't tried Core with the cats, but they've done well on the regular Wellness food in...
