    Having 6 cats?

We went from 4 to 6 very recently. We waited until we moved into our new home. Although not officially catified yet...we want to get cat trees and make cat shelves...there is more than enough space including actual rooms, vertical height, multitude of windowsills and closets/cupboards for all...

    Shelter introductions versus home introductions

I am curious. How does a shelter introduce cats into the cat room? They obviously cannot wait as long as we do at home. Why then does it take us so long to have our furry darlings get along? I figure I am missing something since nearly all the cuties at the shelter get along.

Cats extra affectionate since car accident

We were victims of crazy car accident last week (hit and run). My husband and one of our kids (and all the cats) were at home. The other kids and I were in the car. Since then our cats have been super extra affectionate and my Harriet who is bonded pretty much with me and Fred our gingy boy...in...

Young cat is suddenly peeing on soft things, no UTI. Please help.

If you only have 1 box, I highly recommend buying 2 others. And a variety of types too...maybe one covered for example, or uncovered if you have covered. Scoop twice a day at least. Vary litter levels higher and lower to see if he prefers one type. Some cats will only pee and poop in different...

Anyone have a cat who explosively poops in fear during car trip?

Tilly came to us as a 3 yo "stray" who was chipped and spayed. Incredibly friendly and loving and sweet as can be...even growls in protest at removal from laps because she is the quintessential definition of a lap cat. During any car trip she has diarrhea sometimes more than once in the...

    Horrible Anxiety

Just wanted to throw out the idea, as I did not notice if yoh mentioned having cats before: 1. Is it possible that you were unconsciously afraid of cats and did not realize it? I had this happen around big dogs until I remembered getting attacked by a chow (sp?) as a kid. 2. If you did have...

    Moving and adopting new cats

We have 4 cats, all adopted from same shelter. We are moving into our own home in a month. Had been planning to adopt 1 or 2 more cats when this happy event occurs. However, I was curious if it is better to adopt them literally as we move and bring all 6 together or let our residents get used to...

Do you let your cat sleep in your bed with you at night?

And our cats definitely sleep with us but they rotate people. The only non-rotating one is Harriet, my beloved "bedroom" cat who picked me and refuses to consider another human hers lol and rarely moves away from her throne by her own choice.

Do you let your cat sleep in your bed with you at night?

Here it was me in bed around 5am and two brawlers landed on my head clawing and freaking out. I do not believe I have ever wiggled backwards faster than that to get out from under them! And our 2 year old daughter had been asleep next to me as well! She slept through the whole thing!

Neutered male trying to mate with spayed female

We had an aha moment!!! I walked into the cat room downstairs. It is below ground so window is eye level with ground outside. Guess who was hanging out 1 inch from the open window blinds? A beautiful grey/white stray that we have sighted three times in our yard in the past week. Helloooo...

I read some cats do not like to pee and poop in the same box. Maybe you can offer an additional box in the spot she is pooping and if an inconvenient location, ever so slowly inch it to a better locale.

Neutered male trying to mate with spayed female

Thanks for your answer! I observed the behavior a little more and spoke to the shelter also. My kids mentioned a stray had been wandering into the yard recently and Fred and Lucg are both big window watchers. I had the thought it might be redirected aggression. The shelter staff felt it sounds...
