Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

Hi, I just wanted to give everyone an update: All 6 kittens have been adopted to responsible forever homes and are perfectly healthy and happy! :happycat: I just gave over the two that I had been helping momma raise, while the other four were adopted out by the bottle nursing foster. Mine were...

Cat just spayed and pulled out one stitch!!

So I called the vet and sent over the pictures and they said it should be okay as long as the incision stays closed. She loosened the last stitch so I ended up getting a bitter bandage to wrap around her abdomen to keep her from messing with it further. This also allows her kittens to nurse on...

Cat just spayed and pulled out one stitch!!

ugghhhh it looks like she pulled out another stitch overnight!!! Currently on hold with the vet, but I’m also worried about the added stress of wrangling her into a carrier and driving 45 minutes to the vet and how that will affect her wound. It looks redder than yesterday, more bleeding or...

Cat just spayed and pulled out one stitch!!

Hi, I just got my cat spayed on 4/28/22. She came home with an e collar but would not keep it on, we tried making her one of those recovery onesies from a baby onesie but she would NOT let us put it on her. She’s still semi feral. She wasn’t bothering her stitches so I just let her be. But today...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I will definitely see about getting a refrigerator box or something similar. This morning, I went in to check on everyone and mom is seeming lethargic. She wasn’t eating the fancy feast I offered her. I noticed a small amount of yellow discharge from her eye...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

An update on the kittens, they are doing well! I need to get them wormed soon, they haven’t started eating wet food or going to the litter box (i have one out but they only play in it), still nursing, etc. Going to really start trying to get them to eat soon. They’re almost 4 and 1/2 weeks old...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

Just wanted to update, both kittens are doing well! They just finished their antibiotics and are doing great, eating, playing, everything as they should. Mom is doing great too! I’m feeling much better now that they’re turning into little cats! Going to begin litter training them soon and...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

Thank you. Her breathing definitely seems more fast and labored, I heard a little bit of wheezing while she was nursing a moment ago and a few more of the popping sounds. I put my ear to her chest again but didn’t hear anything out of the ordinary other than her breathing being fast. But...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

Kittens have been doing well, steadily gaining at least 10g a day, sometimes 15! I’ve been giving them their .1ml clavamox daily, they seem to be taking it well. Only thing worrying me now is a hearing a single click noise from them maybe twice in a five minute span, definitely not every time...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

That’s good to know. I actually tasted a little bit just to make sure lol. They’ve been taking it well so far, I think. I can’t help but be paranoid about them aspirating. I’m feeding the meds to them on their belly, paws down, head up, through the side of their mouth (and kind of position the...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

re: clavamox, I was wondering… the vet prescribed the same amount for both (.1mls) even though one weighs much less than the other because she’s the runt. I was watching the Kitten Lady’s video about syringe feeding meds and her doses were based on weight. Could this be cause for concern? I may...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

I took them to the vet today to get them antibiotics, I got them clavamox! The vet said that the little one with the labored breathing didn’t look like she had a URI and that the cause of her breathing may he an unknown birth defect since she is the runt. The big brother has been having...

Nursing mother cat suddenly lethargic, won’t stay with her kittens for more than 10 minutes

Both kittens seem to still be doing alright. Both nursing well, gaining steady weight. I have been giving the little one honey on the gums a couple times a day as well as continuing to drop feed her the pedialyte/KMR. This morning I was worried because her breathing seemed rapid/labored(mouth...
