    Long saga of cat illness

So I'm back again stressed and anxious because today he's been more low energy than yesterday plus he's possibly in some mouth related pain? Since Wednesday, I've been syringing the panacur once a day and a probiotic paste twice a day (he won't eat it mixed with food), and it's been relatively...

    Long saga of cat illness

Thank you for this advice. I think I do just have to wait. My main concern is that his current hiding and possible nausea isn't related to the giardia or panacur, but it's the fever returned. He did 7 days of antibiotics and the fever was gone on day 4 and 7 (he was at the vets on these days) so...

He's a mobile vet with no staff, so unfortunately there is no one to call!

    Long saga of cat illness

Hi all, My boy Dumpling (1.5 yrs) has been through the ringer the last month. In early Feb he had a fever, which went away but came back two weeks later with nausea so the vet did a blood test and put him on antibiotics. The blood test came back with white blood cells elevated so the vet...

Little red sore on cat's face

Thank you so much! Both of my cats have always loved sleeping under the bed. I have a playpen folded up under there and they love to lie on it. Perhaps moving that somewhere else and doing a good vacuum is step one. It hadn't occurred to me that he might have scratched there himself. Thanks...

Little red sore on cat's face

Just adding that his eye rims look a bit red. He's been napping under the bed and I think the dust irritates them.

Little red sore on cat's face

I thought this little mark underneath my cat's eye was just his white fur stained by a bit of eye goop but I've realised today it's a little wound. I'm now wondering if there is another one forming under his other eye? He doesn't seem troubled so I don't think this is a vet issue yet (happy to...

    kitten with diarrhea/positive feline coronavirus

So I'm back to say that Biscuit STILL has intermittent diarrhea. I used the prokolin probiotic paste for 7 days plus 3 days of slippery elm bark and to be honest his poops got worse during those few days. Once I stopped the prokolin they started to improve and he had about 3 or 4 days with...

    kitten with diarrhea/positive feline coronavirus

Thanks so much, I actually do have some - forgot to mention I used slippery elm bark for a couple of days when his poo had a bit of mucus in it. Might be worth trying again! Do you put it in food? Re. antibiotics - I did ask, but the vet was reluctant given the diarrhea is most likely from a...

    kitten with diarrhea/positive feline coronavirus

Hello, Hoping to get some ideas for what I can try or ask my vet to do. I've had Biscuit since early December. He's now 16 weeks old. He's had diarrhea since Dec 15 or thereabouts. It's ranged from pretty okay poops to soft/wet poops between four and six times a day (but only once or twice has...

Can s boulardii be confused for a parasite?

Yes, he was dewormed at some point by the shelter, I gave him a pill a week ago when the diarhhea started and he's now on the panacur so hopefully this clears everything up. He's only done a couple of poops today and one was pretty good so that's a good sign. His third eyelids are quite obvious...

Can s boulardii be confused for a parasite?

You know what, maybe he did say motile. I think I'm just overthinking things! Hopefully the panacur clears things up, otherwise I'll send off a more comprehensive poop test to find out what's going on.

Can s boulardii be confused for a parasite?

I just took my 14 week old new kitten to the vet as he's had diarrhea for a week. The vet looked at his poo under a microscope and said he could see something "mobile" i.e a possibly parasite. He did a giardia test right away and it was negative but as the kitten is doing well he didn't want to...

    Conjunctivitis

He's about 13 weeks old. The good news is that he only has done 1 poop in the last 12 or so hours and it was pretty good! Eyelids are still red but much much less goopy. I do think the ointment is making them red but maybe that's just a sign it's working.

    Conjunctivitis

No other signs of URI but he does now have diarrhea. He'd done a mix of soft a normal poops in the weekd we've had him, but in the past 24 hours he's pooped maybe 6 or so times, all soft (not watery). I'm not sure if this is from the stress of the vet visit/being medicated/fighting the infection...

    Conjunctivitis

I adopted a kitten from a shelter 7 days ago. They told me he'd had an eye infection which they'd treated with an ointment. 4 or so days later his eyes were very goopy with green yellow discharge. They sent me to a local associate vet who gave me chloroptsone ointment with instructions to use it...

Giardia antigen in poop, no symptoms

Thanks so much for your responses. The vet has recommended not treating unless Dumpling (or a potential new cat) becomes symptomatic. He says because the metrodizanole is difficult to dose with and is difficult on the gut for the cat, we should wait to see if it's necessary.

Giardia antigen in poop, no symptoms

Hi everyone, My 1 year old Dumpling just had a poo PCR test done and it came back positive for giardia antigen. He had giardia in Dec last year. The purpose of the poop test was to see if he was positive for the coronavirus that mutates into FIP as his littermate and my baby Noodle died a few...

    Burnt paw

Thanks so much. If you mean are his bigger pads usually dark, yes they are. He's a grey and white tux so his paws match =) He is an indoor cat except for harness walking a few mins a day but I'll keep him totally inside til his paw is all better. I'm just worried about the white bit that is...

    Burnt paw

Hi, Last night my 6 month kitten hopped up on the stove and burnt his paw. He didn't make any sound and was walking on it okay straight away, just licking it. I ran some cold water over it and had a good look but couldn't see any singing, blistering or anything like that and his paw was as pink...
