Ex stray cat hasn't come home

I took in a stray cat 5 weeks ago, got him all fixed up and he was settling really well, getting on perfectly with my cats, was letting me pet him, seemed really comfortable in the house and was playful and responded to his name. I decided to let him out this morning, before breakfast, as he...

Weather too hot for cat, at a loss!

Thank you! I've put a wet towel in his area now so hopefully he will make use of it. I'll see if I can make the wet sheet idea work!

Weather too hot for cat, at a loss!

Oh he goes absolutely nuts if I go near him and he pants if he's caught so I won't risk it, but I've left a wet towel next to him for him to use if he wants too. He still seems okay, just staying still and not doing a whole lot understandably! My other 2 are interested in the ice cubes though!

Weather too hot for cat, at a loss!

also may be worth mentioning he is super duper nervous, if I go near him he hisses and growls and I don't want to stress him out by trying to interviene and have him get even warmer 😫

Weather too hot for cat, at a loss!

Yep I've done that too but didn't mention it! He just came down to the cooler room very briefly then retreated back upstairs and is yowling (not uncommon for him as he was only neutered a few days ago and still howls). But he did just eat some food too. hopefully he will realise the difference...

Weather too hot for cat, at a loss!

I have a stray cat who I took in a few weeks ago, all going okay but he's still very nervous and stays in his safe place. He is allowed free roam of the house but is more comfortable where he is. The issue is, in England we are currently having a heat wave and it is reaching temps of 29 degrees...

Territorial aggression with my 2 cats

The stray who I've taken in has been hanging out since around March, but my girl doesn't seem to really care about him, she sat next to him outdoors etc. I've not seen any other cats around but will continue to keep an eye on it x

Territorial aggression with my 2 cats

Hello! For the past 2 months (approx), my female cat has gotten really quite horrible to my male. They're a year apart in age and both neutered/ spayed. I've had my boy since around September last year, when I first adopted him my girl was really nice to him on the whole, they used to sleep...

    Stray cat very distressed

Thank you! Good to be reassured that he is doing this due to not being neutered. I'll be keeping them separated until I see some noticeable changes in him ☺️

    Stray cat very distressed

P.S he's in a room of his own, which is the room he's trying to get out of to go back outside.

    Stray cat very distressed

Hello! I posted the other day about a stray/near feral cat that I have taken in with the aim to rehabilitate and keep myself. Over the past 2 days he's been extremely frustrated, scratching on walls and doors and howling through the night. I'm a bit worried my neighbours will hear and be...

Any advice helping a stray/ near feral transition into home life

Yeah my friend said the same as she works for the RSPCA. It's a regular hospital, I would try other vets but I have a discounted plan there - they are good but not at all as flexible as other vets in my area. Once he's been neutered and vaccinated I will probably sign him up to a different practice.

Any advice helping a stray/ near feral transition into home life

Thank you! I'll have a read of the article. He's in a room of his own yes, and will stay there for quite a while I'm sure! I've got a feliway and have been leaving him a little light on at night time too. I tend to just go in there and sit and read out loud each day at the moment and don't look...

Any advice helping a stray/ near feral transition into home life

They told me they couldn't as they'd have to put him in isolation to recover as he doesn't have vaccinations.. however I just found out from his previous owner that he did have them when he was a kitten but no boosters. I'm going to ring them again and see if we can do it all at the same time, I...

Any advice helping a stray/ near feral transition into home life

Thank you very much for your reply! I will continue ignoring him and be even more hands off for now until he's ready to seek me out. That's a good way of thinking about it as I have PTSD too, helps me to understand better! Luckily he has tested negative for FIV and FELV. He is going in for...

Any advice helping a stray/ near feral transition into home life

Hello! I was wondering if anyone may be able to offer some advice. I took in a stray cat 3 days ago now, he'd been hanging about on the estate for almost a year after his owners got a new puppy - I wasn't aware that he was a stray until recently, where I've seen him sitting out in rain storms...
