Raw food can cause salmonella and has other risks too. I would suggest cooked food. Cats in the wild do eat raw, but that's why they're susceptible to diseases and illnesses a lot more.
Fancy feast is considered a lower quality food, I would recommend to go with a different brand. It's pretty confusing which is good or not because people have mixed reviews, but generally the grocery store ones are to be avoided.
A small amount of grains is okay, like rice, because it helps settle the stomach. But just a little bit. The main thing should be meat, not grains. So grain-free is preferable.
My cat used to eat up the whole thing but now he also doesn't. I just sit next to him and that encourages him to eat lol. Otherwise try mixing a treat with it so they can eat it.
Unfortunately I don't know about any such area in the forums. I just visit my local pet store weekly and sometimes they happen to have great sales happening. If you're ordering online just check the websites.
Thanks for letting me know. I know that is the case sometimes for some foods, and that overpricing the premium food is nasty, but I like to stay extra cautious and rather avoid the cheap food. Many of them contain artificial colours and flavours.
No, but I wouldn't recommend it because it contains artificial colours and flavours, that brand. It is also considered to be lower quality food, amongst others like whiskas, iams, friskies, etc. All of these brands are like fast food. You can try some better quality brands like authority by...
From my experience, all brands contain fillers in some of their products but not others. No brand is completely "clean". I haven't been able to find a brand that is completely clean but they have the odd item here or there that does seem cleaner than the rest
Really? :S But the can I got doesn't contain any of those. I guess some cans do and some don't. One should obviously look at the ingredients of each type of can and choose accordingly.
I myself read that fancy feast contains artificial flavours/colours. That junk isn't good for anyone. These brands like fancy feast, friskies, whiskers, they're considered junk food for cats. Like the human equivalent of fast food. So try better premium brands.
Too health conscious isn't a thing lol. You can never be too conscious about health. Personally, I make sure every food I give my cat isn't junk food. Even for treats, they are quality treats. It gets a bit expensive but it's worth it.
No, it's not really fine. These brands are considered junk food/fast food. Try premium brands like Simply Nourish or Authority from PetSmart. There are many other good brands like Weruva or Wellness as well. But the brands you listed, they are just super cheap and super unhealthy. They contain...
Even the chicken food I give my cat contains 'ocean fish'. It's hard to avoid completely because it seems to be almost everywhere. I wouldn't worry about mercury contamination, as many cats do fine eating seafood.
I don't think it's true that they'll become 'finicky' with changed foods. That's a bit silly. Any being craves a variety. In the wild, cats don't eat the exact same food every time. That being said, I've known cats who have been eating the same food day in and day out and are doing fine. Maybe...
