Not an expert but... From your post I couldn't really tell if you have tried regular old purina dry cat chow or something similar. Try putting a tiny but of water/milk in it. Like I said I am not an expert

Yeah he only started coming up on the furniture recently. Before that I had a box by the door that he would nap in, with the door cracked. Still no way he would let me pet him though.
