Balancing an adopted mom and daughter cat (now 12 months and 2 yr 4 months)

Oh yes. And kitten purrs as soon as I pick her up, she just lets me know she wants to go down sooner. Eats fine, litter fine. They chase each other around and have a gold wrestle every now and then without incident. I only worry she’s feeling neglected or left out of maybe her mom somehow lets...

Balancing an adopted mom and daughter cat (now 12 months and 2 yr 4 months)

Thanks! Yes they’re both spayed :) I try to rotate toys out to keep it exciting but find it’s harder to entice the kitten these days.

Balancing an adopted mom and daughter cat (now 12 months and 2 yr 4 months)

So I adopted two kitties last December when the mom was about a year and 4 mos and her daughter 4 mos. Mom was very skittish, hid for most of the day and played by herself. Kitten was energetic, cuddly (let me pick her up and would fall asleep on me), and could play for hours by herself or with...

Good alternative to Wellness wet food?

Hi everyone, hope your week is off to a good start. The last time I posted around here was for support during my cat’s palliative time right up until her euthanization. Two years later and I adopted a mom and her kitten:) I’ve only ever fed Wellness wet food on my vet’s recommendation about 17...

Nellie (one Of My Favourite Pics)

Here's my girl. She joined our family when I was 10 - after I picked her up from the litter and she fell asleep in my hands. Nellie kept me company for nearly 17 years, seeing me through five schools, one sports career, various family emergencies, late night and last-minute papers, you name it...

If I Had To Euthanize Again, Here's What I Would Do Differently (what I Wish I Knew)

My vet did relay that we could have her ashes returned (communal or private) and its prices. Ashes that were not returned to owners are scattered around the farm where cremations take place. My regret isn't that I did not have her ashes returned, but more so that the farm wasn't near my...

If I Had To Euthanize Again, Here's What I Would Do Differently (what I Wish I Knew)

Hi CatSite, I haven't posted since my kitten (nearly 17 years old) was put to sleep in my lap. This community was such a wonderful support to me and I want to come back to offer any bit of comfort or insight I can to anyone going through similar. I thought I'd start with what I wish I did...

Time To Euthanize? 16-year-old With Congestive Heart Failure

Vet left an hour ago. Everything went as well as they could given the circumstances. She had a good last day, I literally cuddled her right until 5. Vet gave her a shot of tranq (she did put up a short fight... she’s my warrior cat) and she then fell asleep in my lap within moments, then he gave...

Time To Euthanize? 16-year-old With Congestive Heart Failure

Of course today she's having a "good" day and eating a bit and being generally cuddly. It's so hard not to live in the present right now - thinking "this is the last time we'll sit here, the last time I'll take this photo, the last time I stroke her cheek" etc. etc. Thank you for all the kind...

Time To Euthanize? 16-year-old With Congestive Heart Failure

Thank you so much everyone. I mentioned before but especially as none of my friends have pets and don’t quite understand, this forum has been such a support to me ❤️. My girl will be euthanized today at 5 pm at home. Currently laying beside her.

Time To Euthanize? 16-year-old With Congestive Heart Failure

Since Saturday she went from manageable and still social to lying around next to her water bowls with little appetite. She doesn’t seem to be able to get comfortable enough to sleep :( I’ve moved all her stuff so it’s within her reach now but she’s moving slower than ever.

Time To Euthanize? 16-year-old With Congestive Heart Failure

Hi everyone, Thought I would update. My kitten's breathing worsened on Saturday and upping her meds has not improved it. It's laboured and she looks exhausted. She can still walk slowly and jump on the bed but it takes a ton out of her. I spent all last night with her, trying to cradle her head...

Sammie's Not Doing So Well..... :'(

Crying with you and for you and your kitten. So sorry and so sad. You did the best thing. Just try to imagine her being the happiest, comfiest kitty cat in heaven - that's what I'll do. So much love your way.

Patches Of Fur Just Fell Out - Alarmed (photo)

I know, it's such a distressing thought! She was purring because I brought out her favourite blanket though, so I think it was content purring :) She isn't going to get better, unfortunately - she's still losing weight (very slowly) due to CHF so my endgame is making sure she's comfortable.

Good to know, thank you. Nope, vet didn't take any scrapings, he did not seem concerned. I do trust him.

Patches Of Fur Just Fell Out - Alarmed (photo)

Vet said as there’s no open sore there’s no issue. My guess is she scraped her back at some point because she’s skin and bones (no more fat for cushion). :(

Patches Of Fur Just Fell Out - Alarmed (photo)

Thank you for your kind message <3. These patches are close to her tail along her spine. Vet opens soon - I'm going to give them a call. Her new "baseline" breathing is still laboured and I keep on top of with 3 lasix injections a day, but it's far better than when she wasn't on meds. All of...
