    Problem tooth

Merlin's upper right canine was pulled before I adopted him, and now his lower right canine snags his upper lip all the time. A couple days ago he must have been playing with my other cat Ringo, and he bit his upper lip so hard that he bled. So I'm wondering if pulling his lower right canine...

    Cat Walks Across My Pillow

I adopted Merlin a week ago. I let him sleep with me the first couple nights, but he walks across my pillow several times per night and wakes me up. On Wednesday I was so sleep deprived that I had to take an afternoon nap. So I've closed him out of the bedroom the last few nights, only he meows...

    Need Help With Biter

I adopted Bosco last winter, and the shelter warned me that he bites when he's overstimulated. I thought they meant play-biting, so I said "no problem". However, he bites hard enough to draw (a little) blood, and he hangs on too. He doesn't bite when I've been petting him too much; instead, he...

    How Common Is Happy Drooling?

(I do it sometimes, but I'm wondering about cats specifically. ) My first three cats never drooled, but my current two cats do. Their mouths are like faucets when their motors get going. So I'm wondering if this is common in cats, or did I just hit the jackpot, twice?

    Was My Cat Possibly Abused?

I adopted Bosco from the Humane Society a month ago. They warned me that he nips when he's over-stimulated, and he's done it a few times. But on Saturday he was sitting on my lap, and he bit my arm really hard and drew blood. I shoved him off my lap and walked quickly toward him because he was...

My Cat Keeps Running At The Door

He's neutered, and the Humane Society told me he was feral before his previous owner adopted him. Maybe he just misses freezing, starving, and getting into catfights.

My Cat Keeps Running At The Door

Hello, I recently adopted another cat (Bosco), and we just have a small problem. Whenever he sees me getting ready to leave my apartment (unless he's sleeping), he takes up a position a few feet from the door, then when I open it, he tries to escape. I've tried yelling and nudging him away with...

Is It Normal For Cat Introductions To Backslide?

Bosco was chasing Elmo. I yelled and clapped my hands, then Bosco paused and Elmo kept running. I carefully grabbed Bosco and put him in the bedroom for a couple hours. When I opened the door to let him out, Elmo ran in, found Bosco in the closet, and they sniffed noses. Bosco has chased Elmo a...

Is It Normal For Cat Introductions To Backslide?

I adopted a 4 yr old male cat last Tuesday and named him Bosco. I have an 11 yr old resident cat named Elmo. I put Bosco in my bedroom for a couple days, and on Friday I switched them. I was letting them look at each other through a baby gate a few times per day while they were separated. There...

Which Premium Foods Have Large Kibbles?

Elmo has always been a dry food Hoover that sprays out all the junk he just sucked up. I bought a slow feed bowl a few months ago, and that has helped a lot, at least for his nightly dry food snack (he gets canned food in the am and pm). The problem is that when I went on vacation, I had to use...

Lion Cut Has Created A Relationship Problem

Daphne would spend a couple days hissing at Elmo every time he came home from the vet, and he didn't even have a bath. Somehow, spending 20 minutes in the clinic changed his scent. Things should improve soon.

Those Of You Who Have Adopted A Cat A Year Old Or Older...

At my local shelter, each animal has a profile sheet on their cage that includes the general reason for surrender, and the staff can give more details if asked. A lot of potential adopters are probably turned away when the profile says a cat has litter box issues, but it saves the poor cat the...

Im Starting To Understand Why People Rehome Pets (cats Waking Me Up)

I sleep better on work nights when my bedroom is cat-free. So I taped a towel to the outside of my bedroom door and put up a baby gate so the cats can't scratch the door, or at least I won't hear them if they do. I also use earplugs and a white noise machine so I can't hear them meowing. It works.

    New Cat Is Very Timid

LOL I bought an Arby's Turkey Bacon Ranch wrap, and Sophie came running 5 seconds after I got home. Gave both cats a piece of turkey, and she's still in the living room an hour later!! Thanks everyone for making me feel better!

    New Cat Is Very Timid

Hi, I adopted an adult cat, Sophie, from the Humane Society this past Sunday. Five days later, she's still under my bed most of the day. My other cat, Elmo, hissed at her defensively whenever he saw her for the first couple days, but he's stopped that now. She'll come out a few times a day and...

My Large Cat Eats My Small Cat's Food

Hello, I have a very large cat, Elmo, who's overweight but also very large-framed. I also have a small cat, Daphne. Elmo's predecessor was the same size as Daphne, so when I put down their canned food, they would both eat for a few minutes, go away, come back and eat some more, etc. It took...
