Thank you for following up! Lots of testing and $1400 later we got some answers… Anakin (our boy) has crystals in his bladder. This can be managed through diet change and we are giving him anti-inflammtory meds and pain killers. The vet gave him an antibiotic and thankfully we took him home the...
No, his breathing was weird this morning. He’s done this before and then it’s suddently stopped after coughing up a hairball and he’s back to normal so we didn’t worry *too* much since it didn’t last more than a few hours. Vet doesn’t think it’s related to a hairball though.
The vet is very concerned about his breathing so is keeping him for tests. Said there may be some crystals in his urine but that doesn’t explain the breathing. I’ll report back when we know more but wow am I having a hard tome concentrating today… I just want our boy to me ok.
Thank you for this! He seems unwell this morning so we’ve made a vet appt asap (in a couple hours), regardless of whether or not he gets better this time around because there is now a pattern every few weeks.
Our 8 year old cat suddenly began peeing outside the box a few weeks ago. We moved in August and went from using 2 boxes to 1 (but we have two cats). At first I thought he might be ill but as soon as we put the second litter box out it stopped - great! But now 3 weeks later he has peed AND...
Thank you, oddly enough the wheezing stopped after an hour or two, but he has continued to pee outside of the box almost daily. He is eating just fine and pooping in the box. We’re going to call the vet tomorrow to address the issue with his pee…
Hi there,
2.5 weeks ago we has reason to believe our 8 year old cat ate floss. I found a piece on the floor and he was hiding/wheezing. We were terrified but within a couple hours he was acting normal and we felt confident that if he did eat some, he threw it up. He’s been perfectly normal for...
My daughter is 7.5 months old and I’ve noticed a change in one of our cats’ behaviour now that she is crawling. Anakin (our cat) will come sit in my lap when I’m playing with my daughter on the floor each morning. I’ll pet him for a bit but eventually get up so I can make breakfast. He used to...
Our youngest cat (1.5 years old) stands like this all the time. He runs, jumps and plays but I always found his stance peculiar. I raised my concern to our vet at his 1 year exam (of course he was crouched down for most of the visit so she couldn’t see what I was talking about). She checked his...
Anakin was 3 when we adopted him, and his previous name was Oreo Sweety. It didn’t take very long for him to answer to his new name. We’ve had him for 11 months and comes when he’s called.
Anakin was 3 when we adopted him last year and we have had zero issues with him using the litter box. The few times he's thrown up, he's even done it right beside his litter instead of elsewhere in the house. Anakin was also only neutered the week before we adopted him.
I think it’s important for kittens to grow up with another pet in the home - it helps with their socialization. The rescue we adopted our kitten from would only adopt kittens out in pairs, or to homes that had another cat or a dog.
We have two cats, but our older boy (Anakin) has got to be THE MOST affectionate cat I have come across in my life. I thought it would be fun for everyone to share photos of oir cats loving up on us!
Here are some of my favourites:
Giving me loads of “boops”.
Oh my goodness all of these photos melt my heart!! Here’s our big boy, Anakin. We adopted him last year when he was surrendered to our local rescue. He is truly the most loving and affectionate cat and he truly changed our lives. He’ll be 4 in October.
When we brought a kitten home, our resident cat stopped sleeping with us for a little while. Over time he was back to his old self. Just remember that bringing another animal into the house is a big change for a cat and you need to be patient.
