I put a little piece of large hole screening over the seeds. Something like hardware cloth. That way the sprouts can poke through, but when she pulls the grass up, less of the dirt/roots come up. Then she's "mowing" the grass instead of uprooting it.
You actually don't need soil if you're just...
I don't brush my cat often because every time I brush her, she brings up a hairball a few hours later. (Last night it was 4 am next to me in bed :bawling:.) I use a knockoff zoom groom, and I try to remove all the loosened hair afterwards with my hand or a comb. She has sensitive skin and hates...
My senior cat has kidney problems and food intolerances, so vomit happens. I used to use vinegar to clean up her messes, but now I live in a house with a pretty nice wood floor that I have no idea how to take care of. But I heard that vinegar is harsh on wood. So what should I clean up the vomit...
Now I wonder what would have happened if I left her alone with her vomit. When I hear her heaving, I immediately run over to try to give her something to vomit on, so vomit usually doesn't stick around very long.
What a gross thread.
A little late on this, but you can probably calculate it using the moisture percent on the USDA or Self nutrition data website. If you can't find the type of liver you're feeding, they all probably have similar water content.
I also have a fish allergic cat that I've just not been giving omega-3's.
How long does a bottle last, and how's its shelf life? I don't live in the US and shipping time will probably be a couple weeks, want to make sure it won't go bad in that time.
Stinky poop once in a while could be there was gross bacteria in that particular meal. But not enough to make your cat sick. Ever eat a salad that was a little too old and the next day (or later that same day) you get some extra smelly butt but you're not food poisoned or anything?
I *wish* I had a second cat to eat my cat's vomit. I mean, extra enzymes, right?
My cat just did that with my first attempt to feed her kidney and now I'm scared to feed her more. It smelled bad enough going in....
Pate is a good idea, I'll try it sometime. Frozen in ice cube trays after making it all pasty?
So far my kidney experience hasn't been fun. Kitty loved the kidney and vacuumed it up, then vomited it all back up an hour later. My hands smelled all the next day from cleaning the kidneys (I ended...
My cat (with CKD and general tummy problems) has been eating home cooked since the beginning of the year, with a super basic recipe because of just moving to a new country and don't know where to find stuff issues. So for two months, it's been:
- ground beef/veal (they're somehow about the same...
Just wanted to resurrect this thread in case anyone ever has the same question. Fish are super, super sensitive to chemicals (ever accidentally kill a fish by changing its water too fast?), and lots of stuff that is safe for mammals will outright kill fish, so I think that fish food is probably...
Iodine is so much more confusing than I thought!! I can't find an amount of iodine in Morton's lite salt, only a DRV%. Which is almost double the % listed on my salt's label, but I don't know if Argentina's health department has a different daily recommendation for iodine than the FDA...
I found iodized low sodium salt today! Anyone know how much I'd need to add to a pound of ground beef (or how much per 100 g meat)?
It's not Morton's, per gram it has: sodium 131 mg, potassium 346 mg, iodine 33 mcg.
Ingredients: potassium chloride (66%), sodium chloride (33%), potassium iodide...
A while ago I had a flatmate that was Muslim. He explained that it's a really big deal to have all the blood drained out of the animal in halal meat. The slaughter method essentially is supposed to cause brain death, while the heart can still beat a while longer so the animal bleeds out more...
