Here is one of catwoman707's threads where she describes how she has worked with flatchestedkittens.

I am concerned about PE, though, as the ribs curl in and applying pressure to the outer edges of the ribs could make them...
...we have had our first litter with our first queen. The kittens are 7.2 weeks old and one kitten has been diagnosed with flatchestedkittensyndrome. He's is the happiest little chappy and the sweetest boy. He was the smallest kitten but now has caught up weight wise with the biggest (there...
Hi. Never heard of this before, but I did a search on this site for previous posts. Here is the link for those:

Hope this is helpful until some members can come along and offer their first hand experiences.
...TCS!
I do have experience with them and yes, if he is thriving there's really no reason why he shouldn't continue to do so. There are things that can be tried in severe cases: FlatChestedKittenSyndrome?? but it looks like your boy could be one of the lucky ones. :)
Has he been seen by a vet?
Take a look at this specific post in this thread again, I think the long version you have is too long, and it sounds like it isn't supposed to be super snug...
FlatChestedKittenSyndrome??
...is not gaining at all. I took him to the vet due to this and his chest feeling wide and flat. The vet said that he had flatchestedkittensyndrome and very well might not make it due to this hindering his ability to eat. He still tries to eat somewhat but can't take in very much and it's not...
I was feeling the same way about the length. I took it off of him for a while so he could get some exercise and hit the milk bad and oh did he ever! He hit the milk bar like a champ! I was so happy to see him nursing but about 15 mins given the lack of nursing time he has had recently. I didn't...

Here is a link about calicivirus:

I will post more info about flatchestedkittensyndrome tomorrow. I will also discuss more about calicivirus.
In the meantime, do nothing drastic with your kitten such as euthanasia.
Flat-chestedsyndrome...
First things first: you can find out about flatchestedkittensyndrome here: FlatChestedKitten (fck)
If it were me I think I'd hold off on the leg exercises until the vet has a look at the kitten. Beyond that, I've never dealt with FCK personally, so I can't give you the benefit of...
...kitten needs to begin wearing a cardboard vest as soon as possible to get pressure off the chest so the rib cage can begin to grow normally.
Please see and follow the links Margret gave you above.
Here is another where our own Catwoman explains things as well:
FlatChestedKittenSyndrome??
I have a 5 week old kitten that was born with some health problems. I noticed when it was only a few weeks old that something was wrong with the kitten's ribs. It felt flat. I researched and found out about Flat-chestedKittenSyndrome. In addition to the rib cage deformity, the kitten was slow...
...with your vet about this.
PawPeds Note: Of special interest is the second paragraph after the last photograph, of a kitten on a tie-dyed shirt.
FlatChestedKittenSyndrome - Part Two: Treatment Options Note: Example B, using 2 pieces of cardboard, appears to be the best splint design.
Margret
Thanks to everyone for their replies. I was not sure if the two conditions were related or not. I will wait on doing leg exercises until I speak with the vet tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestions on flat-chestedkittensyndrome. Catwoman707, I will start doing what you suggested.
Your cat needs to go to the vet right away. He sounds like he was born with FlatChestedKittenSyndrome. Kittens who have problems with walking as you describe are often called Swimmer's Kittens but this is related to the FlatChestedKittenSyndrome. Here is an article on the syndrome...
...fell off of something or had something fall on to him, but I'd be like you and would be afraid to do any exercises with him.
I don't have any great ideas although I just read that Flatchestedkittensyndrome is a soft tissue/lung issue, and not a bony malformation, so I'm a bit confused.
