The only time I got Krista to use a cat bed, it was one of those scratchy ones that cats are supposed to love. She used it once. The next day she squatted and peed in it like a litterbox. That’s the last cat bed she gets. She will sleep next to me on the bed or if I’m shifting too much, she’ll sleep in a nook under the bookcase that’s next to the bed. If I wake and have a “where’s Krista moment?”, usually I see feet sticking out from under the bookcase and that’s good enough for me.

"What is this CAT BED you speak of?

I AM in my cat bed.

Silly personal care giver."

Ive often been tempted to buy one for each of the boys. But they already sleep on our beds (and on our pillows) and I dont think they plan on changing that. I think dogs would be more likely to use a pet bed than a cat. If I got one, I would make sure I added a washable soft blanket to the inside.

The preferred spots of both kitties....wherever we will allow! Haha!

Although Fluffy truly prefers UNDER the covers as much as possible, especially during the colder months

This was the cat bed we attempted for Fluffy way back when

I have more luck with cats sleeping exactly where I don't want them to. Pretty much every cat bed I've ever purchased ends up being donated or collecting dust. Right now the cat beds are all in the catio and do get used out there; but I think that has more to do with there not being any softer surfaces to lay on.

To answer the question, a cat bed is not a *need*. I'd put a good scratching post or cat tree higher on the list of needed cat furniture then a bed.
Agreed. The girls have 2 beds. They sleep anywhere but their beds. They will sleep on the floor next to the beds.

One thing they do love is a dishpan from Dollar Tree. It's solid (no draining holes or anything). They have small plush blankets in them. I had bought the pans to carry cookies to work a few years ago and when I brought them home, Sophie declared that they were theirs. I bought identical plush blankets and put them in the pans to make them more comfortable and they really like them. The blankets are easy to wash and the pans can go in the dishwasher. Cheap, easy and they like them way better than their beds. Of course, they like my bed and my pillows best. I got the blankets from Kohl's when they had a sale. I think they ended up being about $3 each.
