These two decided to test out some hunting skills (which they don't have) They chased a mouse all over and finally to the side of the garage.

He went in there somewhere.jpg

Treasure digged around on the ground while Shaman watched on. Eventually the mouse must have got away as I saw Shaman swat Treasure in the face.

I don't see him.jpg

That's when Shaman looked down and Treasure looked back at me like "Sorry Mom. That mouse was too fast".

I'm sorry Mom.jpg

:flail::flail: I love your captions! A good outcome for the mouse as well. Our yard kitties are employed as mousers and are efficient at keeping rodents at bay. Since our area is known for hanta virus, it is best for me not to discourage them. :soldier:

I know it's controversial but I actually would prefer if they learn how to hunt as opposed to digging through dumpsters. With all the shootings going on I wonder if I will return when Mom and I go out. Plus we have an infestation of mice at the moment.

True. We always wonder how our cats would manage if just in case...:(

The little one brought in a mouse last night, let it go, and the chase was on.
He does this about once a month with something...mouse, mole, frog, lizard, jarfly, chipmunk (that was the worse so far).
I shouldn't complain though....the big one hasn't brought anything in and let it go..... yet.

My old cat Sage (MIA since May 1st) used to be a great hunter, but one night he had a comical experience... this was in the old beach cottage, Sage was lying next to me as I read a book, and suddenly a small rodent appeared from a gap in the drywall by some steps in one corner of the room. Sage leapt off the bed and the chase was on... moi, I stood up to intervene and, next thing I know, these two critters are doing high-speed laps around me like they're racing at Talladega. I whirled around several times trying to keep up with the pace, and the mouse finally peeled off the "track" and skedaddled back through the gap whence he came, leaving Sage to inspect the gap and repeatedly meow in an agitated manner. Took awhile for Sage to settle down and rejoin me on the bed, and the lucky rodent didn't make a second appearance... probably hoofed it down to the liquor store to buy himself a lottery ticket, LOL. Only time I ever saw a critter get away from Sage, who was a tremendous leaper, climber & hunter in his day. Seeing the OP's remorseful kittehs in the photos above reminded me of that comical incident... and "the one that got away." :silver:
