So it falls on me to cut the cat’s nails at my mom’s house (OK I love the babies, see a need and do it.) The thing is Nick’s nails are kinda brown which makes seeing his wick kinda difficult. I use a bright light and trim less then I think is needed just in case. Any other ideas? I’m not sure if his nail color comes from him bring black furred or not. I do know his skin is grey since the vet shaved him when he had his tail amputated. Not sure if the skin color is a factor in his claws having a darker pigment or not. 5FAC8D84-67D2-4956-A24F-13BA6570E337.jpeg
And a cute one:

My ruddy abyssinian has very dark claws. You're right, it makes it hard to see the quick. I generally take just the tip off, which of course means I have to trim his claws more often than my other cats.

I don't really have any other suggestions for you. Merlin is 10 years old and I've never found an easier way to trim his claws.

Thank you!

Nick has Smokey brown claws. They have darker lines through them and his quick in one nail looks lighter (thank goodness!) I will take pictures of his claws next time I visit in a couple of weeks just so people can compare/contrast. Until now all my kitties have had clear claws, making my life easy.
