What is your favorite midnight snack?

My current favorites are either a bowl of my kid's "Saturday cereal" or raisin toast with Nutella. Neither are ideal choices for bedtime.

The other day my 6 year old said "Mom, did you use the toaster oven last night?" I guess I wasn't quiet about my snacking. :paperbag: :lol2:

Can you tell it's about midnight and I'm hungry?

Granola. I make myself eat it from a coffee mug rather than a bowl, so I can't have too much.

Nothing like a little sugar rush before bed time.

I never eat anything after 6:00 pm. No midnight snacks here.

But I remember when Rick and I were younger. We'd be up late and get the munchies. Hamburgers, sandwiches, cookies, whatever was in the house. Rick woke up one time around 2:00 in the morning. He was hungry and wanted me to make him a burger, but didn't want to wake me up. So he purposely started tossing and turning in bed and, of course, I woke up.

What is your problem?

I can't get comfortable.

Why?

I'm really hungry.

Do you know what time it is?

Yes. What's your point?

What do you want?

I'd love a burger.

ARE YOU FREAKIN' SERIOUS?

I think I am.

I'll make you a deal. I'll make the burgers, if you run down to the store and get some Pepsi.

Deal. Have I told you that I love you lately?

Oh, shut up!

And in about 30 minutes, we were sitting at the kitchen table with burgers and Pepsi. At 2:30 in the morning.

(Oh, he drove down to the store. Of course, that many years ago, even convenience stores weren't open all night. But there was a soda machine outside the store....a Pepsi was .25. It worked.)

The moral of the story? Do not try go to sleep when you're stoned. It never works.

Although I don't have "midnight snacks", I do have a snack before bed. Usually chips, toast with butter or crackers and cheese.

I don't eat much at night, I normally don't even eat dinner ( i'm the big hearty breakfast type), but sometimes I unintentionally do.
Because of work schedules, the wife and/or I will cook a big pot of something to have for the week. Of course we always some of what I had cooked (usually a risoto, jambalaya, or stew), but on more than one occasion, I started a bit late so we ate at midnight. Dinner at midnight is the norm in Spain, but I can't really do more than nibble at night. Normally a couple of beers and I'm good to go

I like to have a couple of cookies and a small glass of milk before I go to bed. If I can't sleep and get up again, I'll have a slice of bread spread with peanut butter and topped off with hamburger dill slices and another glass of milk. That's my very favorite.
