Six months ago I posted my first and only post on here. It was a small tribute to a feline friend of mine who passed away suddenly. When she left, I kept blaming myself. I kept believing I was at fault for not seeing any signs. I still believe so, mainly because around the time of her passing I was worrying over another precious sun of mine, Jingle.
He's a proper grandpa, Jingle. At almost 17 years old, he's one of the first and eldest of our "four-legged" family. When I was five, I came home from school and my mother stated that we had a new member of the family. Turns out, my neighbor found a box of kittens on the side of a road, and a little orange tabby with a scuffed up nose a few feet away. Heartbroken, my mother decided to take in the orange little one and helped the others find proper homes.
We decided to name him Jingle since, well, his first collar had a bell on it, and it jingled throughout the house whenever he moved. Simplistic, but a beautiful memory I can look back at and laugh. We soon found out that bells and collars weren't necessarily his thing as every collar we bought him, he found a way to destroy, heh...
We learned about his many quirks as the years went on, from his fascination with ice cubes to love for chatting. He's never been a snuggler, but he always lays right beside me at night, somehow managing to push me off the bed as I sleep.
Heh.. I'm getting lost in the past.. Over the years, Jingle has been introduced to many furry and feathery friends, and has witnessed many of their farewells. As this post may suggest, it seems it's his turn to say goodbye. As old and weak as he is, we've made the decision to put him to rest this Saturday. I've known this was coming for a very long time, but I honestly can't help but cry whenever I think about it. The days have been long since the decision, and it's torturous. I regret feeling like this. Jingle has been struggling for a while now, and I should be happy he's lived a long, proper life...
The rest of the week will be tough, but it will be turned into loving memories of Jingle's final days, not sorrowful ones. When the time comes I'll probably add more to this post. If you've read this, then thank you for taking the time.
