I have a two year old male cat who seems to sonstantky have poop stuck to his anus. I’ve tried everything from holding a warm cloth, a warm cloth with soap, a bath... anything really and it just won’t come off. I’ve not had to worry so much before like I am with this one, because I’m worried that it’s blocking the exit. I’ve emailed a vet but won’t hear back until Monday probably and it’s cueently 3am Sunday morning. Please help if you can, I’m worried about my little guy. :(

It doesn't look too good. There could be a little infection (the yellow crusty spots look weird). But I don't think it's an emergency at all, so it's fine to wait until tomorrow. Unless he is really blocked, when was the last time he defecated...?

I’m not sure when he last went as we have 3 cats and I can’t exactly separate them from the litter boxes, but he’s playing and his tummy isn’t firm so I’m assuming he’s alright? I’m not sure what to do for it though as it’s hard and I’ve soaked it for a while and nothing is happening :(

I'd definitely get him to the vet first thing Monday. I agree with Noirele; those yellow spots are odd looking. You're sure it's feces and not a scab or some type fungus?

I’m actually not sure I just kind of assumed it was poo :( I’m so worried about him I’m not sure I can get him in but I’m certainly trying to get a hold of one. I’m so worried about him.

I really believe you need to find a way to get him in. A qualified vet is the only person who can properly diagnose him and alleviate your concern. Hopefully others will chime in as the day wears on, but that doesn't look like a simple case of feces being stuck on your cat's anus. Especially if it didn't come of when you bathed him. The yellow parts are concerning too. Please come back and let us know what your vet says. Good luck to you and your cat.

Thank you. It’s happened before and like it’s always looked different and even come off but like this ones bigger and I couldn’t even see it until yesterday. My moms going to come in about 6ish hours and we’re going to attempt to just bathe him again in hope of warm water getting it off. I have an email sent to a vet and hopefully I’ll get a response but I will also call. I hope they can see me quickly and not have to wait. I just figred the yellow was the color fading off from me trying to clean it. I’m so worried I’m sick to my stomach. He’s the first pet I’ve ever had that’s truly mine. :(

It could be. You're looking at the real thing and we're looking at a photograph. Try not to worry. Worrying isn't going to do you or your cat any good. I know it's hard but try. Your mom will be there soon and she'll help you give him a bath. Hopefully, it's nothing but dried poop and it will come right off.

Try (sorry if your squeamish) massaging his anus with olive oil. Use a circular motion (not just linear) so it will penetrate and bind to all that stuff. The oil will help soften and lift the poop (if it's poop?) away from his skin. You will hopefully with a warm damp cloth be able to wipe it away after. And because it's just olive oil, other than if he gets away from you and sits on something that can stain, there should be no harm done if this is not stuck poop. And also, no harm if he licks himself after either.

My uncle is friends with a vet tech at the vet I contacted so we sent him a photo and he didn’t seem overly concerned to rush him in just said we should probably make an appointment. My mom managed to put a little coconut oil on it so, guess we will see.

I hope it all works out. To have that much residue on his backside his poop must be awfully runny, no? Do you mind my asking what you're feeding him?

Not at all! He eats canned food, Fancy Feast specifically. My mom used coconut oil and a glove and just kinda rubbed it on carefully and it’s looking so much better I have another photo.

Well, canned is certainly best, that's for sure, especially for a male cat. He's had a bowel movement since all this happened? You're sure he's pooped and that he's not impacted, right?

I’m pretty sure he’s not impacted because he is acting completely normal, and his tummy is soft and there’s noticibly less what ever it is on his bottom because my mom used coconut oil yesterday and no water its a tiny ball rather than clusters. We also have 3 cats and I’m not sure which is which bathroom wise and I don’t have a way to isolate a litter box to monitor him sadly. We got an appointment for Thursday and the vet didn’t see it as too concerning. She said probably dried diarrhea. But he’s eating fine and playing and running around.

That's awesome that you have an appointment for him! I feel much better now. Just keep an eye on him and hopefully you'll see him poop.
