My cat gave birth to 3 kittens this summer, all 3 of them lived in the woods for about 2 months till they came out. Now about 5 months from then I own one of the kittens and he barely meows but always making a small grunting sound? When he makes the grunting sound he doesn't open his mouth and makes it every 10-30 seconds. If someone knows whats wrong please tell me! Thanks!

Hi, and welcome! Has he been thoroughly checked out by a vet? That would be the first thing to do, before all else. There are way too many things this could be associated with.

It sounds like he has always made these grunting sounds since you've had him, correct? Have no noticed that he makes these sounds at particular times? Does he have any other behaviors that accompany the grunts?

You could try to post a video here of the grunts, and see if that helps any with your fellow members - who will see your post soon and hopefully offer some tips/advice.

He hasn't been checked out by a vet yet and only has started making the grunting sounds about 3 months ago. There's no particular behavior for the grunts and he just makes them whenever. When I can I will send of a video of the grunting sound he makes, it will be a little difficult because he was born in the woods and has trust issues, I will get to you as soon as I can. Thanks.

Well, in the meantime, I hope other members might have some ideas that will make sense to you about what could be causing it. At this point, I would be considering it as a sign of respiratory issues, but that is one wild guess...
