Flares were huge in my time.. I couldn't wear them as I'm so short that, by the time they were taken up the flare had gone. :frown:

I loved troll dolls.. Someone gave me one with no hair and a hollow head. I was thrilled to little pieces:

I was never cool.

But what I remember from the 80s were My Little Pony, Jem, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and other cartoons of that era. And the toys. I remember the Superbowl Shuffle and We Are The World. I'd put them on our record player and dance around.

Later in the mid to late 90s/early 00s. I remember Tamagotchi and Giga Pets. I remember Backstreet Boys vs NSync in high school and liking Savage Garden the best. I remember in my high school statistics class in a computer lab going to the hamster dance website and thinking that was cutting edge.

I didn't really follow fashion trends, though.

Looks like you and I are about the same age sis. :beerchug:

The 2 things I couldn't live without in the 80's were Aqua Net extra super hold hairspray and a teasing comb. I still have that teasing comb around here somewhere. We used to buy Aqua Net by the case. They still make it by the way.

My high school years were before flower children and sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. Not before rock, though; we listened to early Elvis, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Everly Brothers, and more. A trip down memory lane:

Circle pins
Friendship rings
Pearl drop necklaces
Saddle shoes worn with nylons
Blouses with round collars and roll-up sleeves
Villager dresses
Oxford cloth buttoned-down shirts for girls and boys
45 rpm records and players that could hold a stack of records
Bermuda shorts
Madras, madras, madras everywhere

We were cool, man, Ivy (League) all the way.

I was in middle school then high school in the late 90s and early 2000s. I remember gel pens being really popular, Beanie Babies, Giga Pets, Furbies, butterfly clips, flared jeans, glitter makeup, Britney Spears. Lisa Frank and Trapper Keepers were elementary school stuff for me but I do remember that Trapper Keepers were banned from school for some reason.

Yes those years were the best. Auquanet hairspray was a necessity. My hair is very straight. I remember using a curling iron and spraying hairspray on that layer before I rolled it with the curling iron...and the smell of hair as the hairspray got heated up. Oh and 30 minutes later my curls would end up as a slight curve. Waves gone. My mom tried perming my hair. It either looked like Diana Rosses hair or just a mess of slight waves. No cork screw curls like I wanted. I spent an hour on my hair once in awhile. Most times I preferred to sleep in rather than mess with my hair. I wasn't one of the cool kids either. I was a freak. Big glasses. Shy. Taller than most people by the age of 12 then I stopped growing. And now I'm shorter than most people . Those were the best years for music!

Dr Scholls sandals! I remember those! Probably drove my parents crazy, but my older sis and I each had a pair... wooden soles, grab with your toes, and they'd thwack back at the sole of your foot as you walked. All my parents heard was clump-thwack, clump-thwack, clump-thwack as she and I walked around the house.

Remember floral maxi dresses? My mom made my sis and I matching skirts. :paperbag:

How tall are you? I used to be 5'9, I should measure myself, hopefully I've shrunk. I hate being tall!

:yeah: I can relate to that and glad straight jeans are in style now.

Anyone remember Twiggy? I used to try to make my eyelashes look like hers.

I remember those butterfly clips! I had some, but my hair is super fine so they didn't look as good on me or stay in as well as those who had thicker hair.

I have very thick hair and found they didn't stay well for me either. It could have been that I was an anxious child and I'd always be fussing with my hair or picking at my nails when I got overwhelmed though.
