Ok; who stole September!? I'm happy it's officially fall; but gosh this month went FAST!!



What is your favorite gem/mineral?




I took my DD on a little girls-only day trip this weekend and she found a new love of gems and minerals. (Kind proud here. ) She came home with a nice piece of an amethyst geode. It's really hard to pick a favorite myself. We saw so many different things on our trip. I'm torn between sapphires, tanzanite, pearls, and opals as my favorite gems. My mother would probably say that I've never seen a pretty rock that I didn't like. So I don't think I can really pick between the other gems and minerals. Somewhere around here I have a piece of hematite that I've had since childhood. Rose quarts too. But then I love looking at pebbles and shells on the seashore too.

Oh my goodness, this is a hard question. There are just so many!

Selenite - so beautiful and delicate, and seems like it's glowing inside.

Moonstone, especially rainbow moonstone. The schiller is so beautiful and captivating.

Labradorite - just stunning. I can get lost in its labradorescence. Those colour flashes are amazing!

Tourmilated quartz - I love how you can see the inner structure of the stone, with those shards of tourmaline suspended inside the quartz.

Obsidian (all types) - I love these stones for their story. Obsidian is actually volcanic glass, and is formed when the liquid lava hits the cold water. Snowflake obsidian is especially amazing. The white flecks are feldspar ash that gets trapped in the lava just before it hits the water.

There are SO many more I could list here. I could talk about and look at gemstones all day

I’ve always loved sapphires. Blue is my favorite color, and the sapphire is my birthstone.

Diamonds are beautiful as well. They come in all sorts of colors!

I love sapphires too- and diamonds. They look especially lovely together.

Opals and emeralds.

So of course, my birthstone is a ruby.

I do love all gems, though. When I go to the Field Museum, I can spend so long in the gem room.

I am not into Gems but I do like sapphires and diamonds.

I love garnets and emeralds.

Emeralds, because it is my birthstone


But I also really love pearls, especially in pastel/cream colours. And light pink and blue diamonds.

I like my blue topaz December birthstone. But if I had a choice, I'd have garnet or emerald instead. Those colors are just beautiful!

Garnet and emerald are my kids birthstones. I got a "Mother's Ring" about a year ago with them. It's pretty; but it took me a while to get over the "Christmas colors".

Not in any order: Moonstone, lapis lazuli, labradorite, hiddenite, jasper, and moldavite.

i'd say ruby or emerald! both are really lovely!

Diamonds, of course; followed by amethysts, rubies and aquamarines.
My birthstone is opal but I've never managed to warm up to the gemstone.

Boulder Opals. They look like magical chocolate cookies.

I love tanzanite- especially the deeper purples. So pretty!

Opals -- I really enjoy the complexity of the colors.

For semiprecious stones my favorite is Aquamarine, for precious stones my favorite is a Sapphire. My birthstone is Amethyst but my favorite is Aquamarine. I have an Amethyst ring and an Aquamarine ring. I like the Amethyst, it is a medium purple color with a lot of sparkle. I like the Amethyst but my favorite is the Aquamarine.

Diamonds are my favorite but who can afford many? I just love the sparkle. I also love opals and turquoise. Every gemstone has its own beauty, I don't not like anything.

Hey, I kinda like it! I might get something like this for when I have to get bedazzled.

I like affordable jewelry, I don't think I would ever spend thousands. I have some cubic zirconia that is beautiful to me. When my brother told me that he spent $15,000 on his wife's wedding ring, all I could think of is how many cats I could save with that money.
