Friday June 15th, we had to say goodbye to 2 of our beloved cats...Mankepoot and Mischa.

Mischa had gotten worse over the last months, not caring for her fur anymore, hiding and last week she urinated herself and developed pain over her entire body and the painkiller gave no relief. She was only 11 but we thought it kinder to say goodbye.

Mankepoot, 7, had also changed in behaviour, also seemingly in pain. Turns out he's had hyperesthesia his whole life and his back was also hurting. He got medication but also no relief. He looked great but his spirit was gone. He got angry over little things and would lie curled up in a ball.

We miss them dearly especially Mankepoot's "bug" even though it turned out to be a serious condition and Mischa's squeaky voice.

That is terrible, I am so sorry for your losses; to lose just 1 is bad enough but to lose two at the same time is horrible. So sad to know that they were in pain, but they are just fine now, no more pain, and you will see them again someday and it will be wonderful.

I hope that your heart heals a bit more each day, Lord Bless you.....:alright: :grouphug: :rbheart:

I really feel for you, what beautiful kitties and to lose both together must be so painful. This is so sad, but you had their best interest at heart and they are both rid of their pain now!

You are in my thoughts x

I hope you can take some comfort in knowing they went together, they were family in life, and now family in the ever after. You could not let them suffer, and although it took a tremendous amount of courage and love to end that pain, you took it on as your own so they could find peace.
The bond you have with those two little ones will tie your souls together for eternity. Nothing, not even death, is strong enough to take that bond away. And as you would want for them to go forward into the future seeking happiness and sunshine if you were the first to go, so they want for you. They had a tremendous love for life, they embraced it and lived it to the fullest. That is what they leave for you to follow.
It hurts to lose them from your life, to have them absent from your home. Time is the only thing that helps with that. It helps us to learn to live a new life's order, and time helps to dull the sharp edges of grief.
They shared your life journey for a little while, and although their new path is a path they have to follow without you, they will always be nearby. Their new journey will always parallel your own until the day it once more crosses In the meantime, they have each other and they can feel your comfort and love and send back their own.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all today, the support of friends who understand your pain is important right now. We are here to help in any way we can, please let us share your burden shine a light into the darkness of grief. Take care of yourself.......RIP precious Mischa and Mankepoot. You will always have a secure place in loving hearts, you will always be dearly missed. May the good Lord bless and keep you both, until you meet again!

Aww....they are so adorable. Im so sorry you lost them both on the same day. It must have been so tough for you to have to make that call to say goodbye. That final act of love is a heartbreaking one to make. It is good that the two babies went together and have each other to make their final journey with. They will always be with you in spirit. RIP sweet babies.

Thank you everyone for the kind words.
It's hard not being able to call them for their food or to see Mischa in the window when I get home from work. She would always arch her back right up against the glass.
Mankepoot's chatter when we called him in a specific way. Or just the littlest shimmer off of a spoon.
The cats are way more affectionate, lying close to us. I find myself covered with kitty's whenever I sit down.
We will be picking up their urns on Thursday and Mischa will be reunited with her brother. Mankepoot will hopefully have to wait a bit before his sisters join him but I can just imagine him up there chasing critters with Amara

Rest you gentle, Sweet Ones, dream you deep. You walk in someone's heart forever.

I cannot fathom the pain of losing two beloved family members at once. Even knowing that "just" their physical presence is gone is a heavy thing to bear. My heart with yours.
