Scale For Cats..to Monitor My Cats Weigh. Recommendations?

Looking for a scale to monitor my cats weight, as a tool to monitor health
Any recommendations? Looking for a low priced one.
Guess i could use a bathroom scale, perhaps for under $25 i may find one that may be more ideal.

You need a baby scale - a human scale won't work - the baby scale measures in lbs and oz so you can really track minor fluctuations.

check local online sellers, you might find someone selling one for a deal

"baby" scale. That is the key word i couldn't think of , in searching for a scale.

Some kitchen scales can handle it (mine weighs up to 22 pounds but I've seen some that go higher). They don't have a large surface area so you'd need to put a box or something on it for the cat to sit in. They're fairly inexpensive, usually around $20.

I actually have a pet scale I use, but it costs more than an infant scale. If I had known about infant scales when I was going to purchase, that would have changed my opinion.

I bought one from Amazon called Smart Weigh and it's for babies and cost around $40 CAD.

We tried a baby one and couldn't get our cats to stay still (even though it had a "stabilize" averaging feature). We have been using this one for two weeks now and really like it. If your cat will let you hold it, this one works really well for the 'weigh self with cat, then weigh self method and is highly accurate.

That's the same one we got, and it works well.

jcat my boys won't use it, though, they jump off as soon as I put them on it, sigh...

Mowgli does clicker training and will sit on it for a treat.

Don't waste your money. The easiest way to weigh a cat, particularly a restless one who jumps off the scales, is to weigh yourself, then cuddle your cat and weigh again with the cat in your arms. Then subtract! You may need someone else to read the scales.

No way!! I've clicker trained some of ours too, what a complete joy!!! Guests are shocked at cats that come when called and sit on command!!!

Our vet uses a baby scale for small animals.
We have a scale that I like, but it only goes up to 33 pounds (not an issue for a cat but a huge issue for a growing puppy) and it's a bit wobbly. If they hold still, it weighs well but if they move about it seems to fluctuate.
ETA: The plus is it goes from lbs to kg's. So if you're used to one or the other, it's easy to swap the readings out, plus the buttons are fun to play with.
A human scale might work if it's accurate. I'd recommend something digital and I'd recommend keeping it in the same spot (not moving it a centimeter!) because my own scale tends to fluctuate a few ounces if I move it around. I move it around often so I feel better about myself, LOL

The reason we don't use the human scale is we need to track ounces. If your cat loses or gains more than 8 ounces in a month, you need to reevaluate the situation. That's too fast.

When my curious explorer cat is at the vet getting weighed, I pop him on the scales and click and wiggle my fingers a little bit in front of his face to keep him interested and still while the vet is noting the numbers (that's a scale with a completely flat top, nothing to keep the cat confined)

Weighing cat in a carrier would also work, a plastic pet carrier does not weigh enough to make much of a difference to the reading - weigh carrier, weigh cat in carrier, subtract carrier weight.

Put your cat in the carrier and weigh the whole thing, then you weigh the carrier and know how much your cat weighs

I use a baby scale for my adults. It locks the weight in. I weigh my kittens on a postal scale with tare setting. One with kg would be best since it easier to track weight loss or gain in smaller units.

This is the scale I have. I bought mine in 2010. Still going strong. I used it for my kids as babies. Since them it's been a barn scale. Measuring baby goats, grain, hay, pretty much anything. It hold up with the dust and temperature swings of outside use. I highly recommend it.
