I adopted a kitten from shelter a week ago, came home was sneezing and justhe laying around and looked horrible . Took to vet on Tuesday, has a uri, started on clavamox, after day and a half seemed a little better, showed some interest in food and water, but now seems to have taken a step back. went to vet again today, x-rays good, does have alot of air in stomach from breathing through mouth cause poor baby is so congested. oh he did have a temp on Tuesday and that is gone now so we've made progress, but still mostly laying around, sounds super congested and miserable. not eating or drinking much so are also syringe feeding and we are using a vaporizer. Does this sound familiar to anyone if so about how long before your kitten started getting better, he's 10 weeks old, and we're a week into this infection. any suggestions or information anyone can provide would be appreciated, I'm so worried about the little guy and hate seeing him like this.

Keep him plenty warm, and make sure he isn't getting dehydrated. That will kill him faster than lack of food.Give him water in the syringe followed by the baby supplement . Is the kitten old enough to eat solid food? If so I'd try offering something very fishy.Cat rely on smell to stimulate their appetite.Maybe offer some smelly fishy sardines in oil,no salt,no kipper snacks as they are too salty.Did the vet show you how to injet the fluids in the cheek pocket to avoid aspirating him? Take him to the vet immediately if you notice is skin staying tented after Pulling it up to test for dehydration.I cannot stress this enough of the importance of this.A baby this small can go downhill fast.

He's 10 weeks old, he was dehydrated on Tuesday and they gave him fluids, today he was not dehydrated. No they didn't show me how to inject in cheek pocket to avoid that, can you tell me? I don't want anything else happening to this poor baby. We are syringe feeding him the AD food from vet but now I'm worried about doing it wrong. He's such a little lover, just wants to he on us all the time. I just want to make him more comfortable while this stupid virus runs it's course and I'm very curious anyone else who has experienced this with a young kitten, how long it lasted or at least before you saw major improvement. Thanks for your reply :)
