Kyra scratching her neck/shoulder.....perhaps a bit too much ?

Kyra is about 8 y/o a stray that adopted us 6 years ago and is now an indoor cat. In August/September she was scratching neck and shoulder areas quite a bit 10-20 times/day for just a few seconds each time. She is a Norwegian Forest Cat, probably.... and has thick fur. Went to vet in early...

    Blood Work For Kyra.....

Hi Feeby.......asked our vet about this and he replied "Elevated cholesterol has no significance in cats so don't worry and glucose elevation of 160 is just stress so nothing to change in the diet or lifestyle." Vet is old timer and respected around town....so this will do for now. Thank you...

    Blood Work For Kyra.....

5 y/o female had first teeth cleaning yesterday. All was well. Vet did a CBC beforehand. Values seem to be OK...except glucose (160) and cholesterol (377) which were high. Have not yet discussed with Vet but....any comments on these two values ? Thought there could be a way to relate Kyra's...

How to keep cat out of a wide open living room ?

Update a year later.....Kyra has a favorite barrel chair in the living room that she uses.  Also likes to lounge under a LR table.  She has been very good about not clawing anything in the LR or elsewhere.  DW laid out a sheet at the entrance to the LR and Kyra spends a lot of time on that. ...

Can front dew claws be removed....to keep Kyra from scratching her eye.......

OK, we are back from the vet.  Abrasion of eye from running into something was the diagnosis.  Not a scratch or anything serious.  Eye drops for a week, 3x a day (Tobramycin).  Vet used green dye and fluorescent light to look.  Dew claw scratch pretty much ruled out.  URI symptoms are both eyes...

Can front dew claws be removed....to keep Kyra from scratching her eye.......

Not a DE-claw....just a single DEW-claw.  (If it ever comes to that.)   I have not had much experience with cats and really don't know if the eye boo-boo was from a dew claw or .................?? Not yet discussed with vet.
