    Food Issues

I have a Manx - Macie - who I adopted along with a Tortie in December 2020. Macie is pretty small (and fast LOL), doesn't like to be picked up, but is just about the sweetest girl I've had. When I got her, she had been eating dry food only; I have kept her on the dry, but have been also...

    Anxious/scary adopted cat

It's totally normal for cats to sleep during the day and play at night. I have two cats, and I seldom see one of them awake during the day, but I hear her running and playing all night long. It took her a long time before she felt comfortable and safe here; it's only been ten days, so I suspect...

    Is my kitten mute?

I have a Manx who has meowed maybe 6 times in the last year and a half, and it took her probably a year before saying anything. My other cat talks enough for both of them. LOL She's talking a bit more now; I think she just never had a need (she came from a hoarding situation); I do find she is...

Anxious new cat hiding under sofa after 1 week

I agree that a week is not long at all, esp. if they've been shuffled around a bit. I adopted two cats in December 2020 - a week apart - and kept both in a quiet room (which I think is important so they feel safe and have some privacy). I went in periodically, sat on the floor and read to them...

    Overgrooming

Yeah, thanks. I've done all of that. She will sometimes eat Fancy Feast wet, but not with any regularity, and she turns up her nose at everything else. LOL My beautiful, finicky baby. :-)

    Overgrooming

I know! Thanks for replying. I'm going to be adding the Omega 3 to her food...I mostly can't get her to eat anything but dry, though, so right now raw is out. I'm trying to work in tandem with my vet, but she is making it really hard. Will continue to keep an eye on her and probably switch her...

    Overgrooming

Yeah, I'm 99% sure it isn't. She's fine. I did start to treat her again with Bravecta, since we are treating Macie. And she was on Revolution, also. No issues at all with scratching or biting. And she does not have fleas in her history. Yeah, I'm leaning in that direction. Unfortunately, I...

    Overgrooming

I think anything other than fleas is a possibility. I did consider this and mention it, esp. given she is a Manx, but...apparently, whatever I suggest is completely pushed aside.

    what food!

I don't know about luvsome, but I do know that Meow Mix is pretty awful nutritionally. Carbs are high, protein levels fairly low, and the first ingredients on the ones I've seen are grains. That's dry. I couldn't find any reliable nutrition info on luvsome, but just did a quick google search.

    Overgrooming

Ok, so I adopted two cats in December. My black Manx - Macie - has a difficult history, coming from a hoarding situation. When the rescue got her, she had very little fur and was severely malnourished. She also had fleas and staph dermatitis. They brought her in, took care of everything, and...

Xylitol (poisonous to cats) being substituted for sugar in gabapentin

Thank you! That's pretty much what I found, as well.

Xylitol (poisonous to cats) being substituted for sugar in gabapentin

Can you post a veterinary citation about xylitol being dangerous for cats? I have only found the opposite on all the sites I've visited. Thank you!

What are you feeding your cat?

I just bought some of this, as it looks to be one of the better dry foods, nutritionally. I adopted both of my girls in December, and they were both raised on dry (Meow Mix and Blue). I transitioned the one on MM immediately to Blue, so they have both been eating that. I also give them wet -...

    Calico or tortoiseshell?

So, I've had two torties. Their predominant colors are black and orange (with variation, of course) and, if they have any white at all, it's a small patch (often on the chest). Your kitty has a lot of white...I would guess calico.

    New Cat - Very Timid

Progress, yes! It's felt really slow-going, but I've only had Lottie since the 28th, so it's pretty remarkable how well she and Macie are doing. Just last night Lottie started spending more time out of her room and this morning, both were up and about - Macie is starting to come out from her...
