I had a whole little of 5 young kittens with one eye infected each. All behaving normally. In the one to two weeks it progressed to mild sneezing. They were all started on doxy and eye drops. Now they are better. At the shelter they don't test for the exact microorganism.
Usually what I do when I bring home cats is: place them inside their carrier in a bathroom with the carrier door open. There is no where for them to hide except the carrier (which allows me easy access to them). A bathroom is also pretty basic and is not overwhelming. Keep the environment quiet...
I think it should be fine. Most likely if they are getting along now they will probably get along going forward. It is common for siblings to be adopted together as well.
My understanding is that "no-kill" shelters don't kill animals due to lack of space even if they are young. Typically only very sick animals who can't be saved are euthanized. Young kittens are fostered out until they are old enough to be adopted.
You can try dryer sheets too. That seems to work okay unless it is really matted in. In that case use some sort of brush or wash cloth. I use a combination of vacuum, brush, wash cloth, and dryer sheets.
Cats are definitely very social animals. My cats are just like dogs and follow me around everywhere. They definitely don't judge you and don't like to argue. They just like to eat! lol
Haha. I guess I am not quite at crazy cat lady status yet. I MIGHT adopt a fourth one. I am going to try really hard to resist. Fostering is really fun and I want to be able to continue doing this. I see that a lot of people may be willing to adopt a cat but a lot of people don't want to take a...
That's awesome that you have taken them all in. I know a lot of people wouldn't take that kind of time with a shy/fearful cat. They are all lucky to have you!
I would get him set up with a vet appointment to check on the wheezing during exercise. My cat does this too and hasn't been diagnosed with anything serious yet (thank goodness). He might be flipping over the food and water bowls because some animals have an instinct to cover their food after...
I don't buy cat food at tractor supply BUT I buy the horse pine pellets and use that as cat litter! Biodegradable and no dust, smells good. Cats use it well.
