To answer a few questions and comments. Like I said, litter boxes are scattered around the house, not all in one place.
I used Jackson galaxy’s method for introducing cats. We went very slow (still are.) I’m not starting the introduction process over... we aren’t to that point. This little box...
Hello,
I’ve posted my story on here a few time so I won’t bore you with all the details. I’m 4 month into introducing a new cat into our two cat household. Things are finally going pretty well. Cats hang out pretty much all the time except at bed time and when we aren’t home. The current issue...
Yeah you totally got this. She sounds like a wonderful cat. I’m a little jealous. You will settle in just fine together. soon you won’t be able to imagine life without her. It’s only been a week! Try to do something relaxing for yourself. What a lucky kittty you have.
Don’t give up! She seems like a really sweet lady! Just take the pressure off yourself. It’s ok to feel anxious! I am happy to report my update for you. Our third cat who found her way into our lives is doing great. It took 3 month 10 day before all our cats could calmly spend hours together...
Oh gosh no, I wouldn’t separate them! I’m sure other members will have better advice on how to fix this issue but my advice is, give them some time and be patient. They are kittens and litter mates. They are used to doing everything together. I’m sure as they grow up they will make less of a mess.
Update! After 3 months 10 day (but who’s counting) my 3 cats are hanging out! Sharing the whole house and loving having the whole house opened up! They have been hanging out since Sunday evening. Only closing the door to basecamp at bed time and when they are home alone. Soon I think we will...
Be patient! That’s my number one advice. The slower you go the better of a bond you will form for their lifetime. I have found my cats took about 4 times longer than I expected to accept our new cat. It took over 3 months before our cats could hang out together
Update and question:
Last night, this morning and tonight we have been able to have all 3 cats hang out with minimal hisses growls and swipes. At bed time we put new kitty into basecamp. Now I want to know when do you just open up the house again. When do you let go of basecamp. Last night new...
Update* we have been dosing all 3 of our cats half hour before hang out sessions and it seems to really help take the stress levels down. We have had a few half hearted hisses but nothing like the screaming and swatting like last week with no cbd. Now I ordered some cbd for me! I’m probably the...
You gotta let go of the whole I don’t know anyone who took this long to introduce two cats. When I start to do that it makes me feel terrible. So let that go. Also I think you should try two things. Hang a blanket up on the netted door for now so sight is limited. This will reduce stress that...
I picked some up today. I’m trying it with two of my 3 cats. would have been all 3 but someone had to be stubborn. I’m going to try it for the next week and see how we go. So far so good! Mucho relaxed right now.
Thanks for the pep talk and advice! We do site swapping every day. I don’t want anyone to think the own and part of the house. But new kitties sleeps with us every night as this is her basecamp. I also have read Jackson galaxys newest book which helped a lot at first it was like our guide to...
Your response is spot on. I usually start this off by telling my friends I am the problem, and I know it! I think I’m nervous because I have never introduced a 3rd cat. Always just had two and that was really easy. Before this I had Sophie (passed away last September, I had her since she was a...
