Oh ok, i see. I don't have an oxygen concentrator. Is there anything else i can help her with? Do you know if propping up her head with pillows can help her?
Hi everyone,
My cat has been sick for a few days, she had an URI and then the vet found a small amount of fluid in her lungs. She was under treatment, and her next vet visit is scheduled for tomorrow.
But tonight, her breathing got much worst and i feel like she's suffocating, she keeps changing...
Thank you for your reply. About the laxatives (Magrocol, Lactulose, Docusate) is there one that works better than the others in general, or does it depend on the cat?
I see. The vet told me to give her paraffin oil, but i read that liquid paraffin could cause aspiration pneumonia (and she...
Thank you for your reply. I didn't know about these, i'll ask him if they are available here and if it would be good for her. I asked a friend about chemotherapy, and they said that it might make them live longer but usually it doesn't cure them. And i also worry about the side effects.
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply!
She's okay, eating and acting normal. This morning her stools were small, so i increased the Magrocol dose from 1/8 to 1/4 tsp, and i added a little bit of Laxatone (paraffin) to her food. In the evening, she pooped again and it was closer to her usual...
Hi, did your vet try giving him a micro-enema (such as Microlax)? It is administred without anesthesia.
Also, Cisapride is usually contraindicated if an obstruction is suspected.
Thank you for all the informations! I've been giving her 1.2ml (she weights 4kg) every 12 hours. But i'm wondering, isn't it dangerous to increase the dosage?
Can you please explain what is the issue in the long-term? is it the laxatives not working anymore?
About Magrocol, i started giving...
Hi,
I agree, the stools should stay soft otherwise she won't be able to pass them.
She is currently on lactulose and has been for the last few months, but she always ends up constipated. I'm not sure why it isn't effective on her.
For now i have something called Movicol which is Magrocol 3350 +...
Good idea, I'll split her food to smaller quantities so i can feed her more often. For the water in the food, if it's too watery, she doesn't eat it so i can only add a little.
And no, she doesn't drink water at all. It's been like this for the last three months, i have to give her water in a...
Thank you 😊 She seemed okay (maybe a little tired), she kept looking for food, and she was able to poop so that's good. The feces seemed a little dry which worries me, but other than that her behavior is normal.
