    construction and anxiety/fear

good idea, I will try to find her a good spot that buffers some of the movement.

    construction and anxiety/fear

thanks, I can definitely try to play sounds and create some sound proofing for her. In addition to noise, there are vibrations in our house from the construction. And I suspect that might be the bigger issue. Thunder and fireworks have never bothered her. But I'm sure trying to reduce some...

    construction and anxiety/fear

They are building a new house next door to mine. The process is about 2 weeks in and still will have many months to go. Ever since they've started my cat has been terrified. She hides under the bed in an anxious crouch pretty much the entire time they are working (which is all day). She will cry...

    GI distress

I do not, but I could warm up some blankets in the drier and see if she finds it appealing. She is sleeping on a folded up fleece blanket that I put on the floor right now, she has not been wanting to jump up on the the couches or chairs like she normally does

    GI distress

Yesterday my cat developed bad diarrhea that progressed from slightly soft to completely liquid with some mucous and blood. She then also regurgitated her food and later some water. At this point she was otherwise acting normal--bright eyed and still playful. But, we made a visit to the...

    Underweight cat

@tabbytom yes, as mentioned in original post, she's a 2 on that scale as evaluated by myself and others. She is very boney to the touch. She has not had recent weight loss, but rather has always been at a 2. She is getting 300 calories of wet food and then also has access to dry @maggie101 her...

    Underweight cat

I have not had her to a vet very recently, but she is UTD on everything (went about 6 months ago). She is spayed and is indoor only but we do have a dog who could bring things in. The only wet food she likes are the kinds in gravy, which I know are not as caloric or nutrient dense as pates. But...

    Underweight cat

My 4 year old cat is underweight (2/5 body score) but not alarmingly skinny. She has plenty of energy, is bright eyed, and her coat looks healthy, so I don't think there is an underlying health condition. But I'm wondering if she needs more calories. She currently gets a 3oz can of wet food...

barn cat with unusual coat matting

thanks, @fionasmom that's helpful to know! I think i will plan to give her advantage multi, since that can't hurt. And when i grab her to do that, I will also check the skin again to make sure there is no wound I missed. And then can cut out mats :)

barn cat with unusual coat matting

@Willowy thank you! interesting that you have ones with the same matting. What's interesting is that most of this cat's coat is clean and well maintained it's that one patch @di and bob advantage multi is a good idea! it certainly won't hurt for an outdoor cat!

barn cat with unusual coat matting

We scruffed her and felt through the area the other day and the skin underneath felt and looks normal

barn cat with unusual coat matting

I have horses and the barn where I board my horses until very recently had 2 barn cats. One was an older cat (mid 20s), who just passed away a couple of weeks ago and the second is a 2 year old female. The younger cat, has recently developed some strange matting of her fur towards the second...

    Introducing cat to greyhound

A tree is a great idea, @danteshuman ! I think she will like that a lot, especially if it has a cubby hole where she can feel hidden but can still observe. The poor fiance has been trying with my cat. She loved him as a kitten and for the first couple years of her life and then after whatever...

11 week old kitten - play biting

a lot of kittens will attack feet in play. Most of them also grow out of it, thankfully. does he do it every time you walk or only sometimes when he's feeling playful/frisky? If it's the latter you might be able to redirect his play to something more productive. Some kittens will think our...

    Introducing cat to greyhound

@danteshuman thanks for the recommendation for the series--I will check it out! Luckily, the cat won't have to move, so that will make things easier. The fiance and dog are moving into my place. So while I'm sure she will see this as a home invasion, she won't have to adjust to a new space. And...
