My guess it's a hair ball. Vet will ask how much it happens, when it happens.do you feed him wet or dry?

I have a 9 year old cat, short fur, loves to be brushed. I am surprised she has so much fur! Last couple days gagging. But every day is too much. Glad you are taking her in

He's so chubby, I wondered if it's not something like asthma. I guess we'll see! The doctor didn't seem too bothered when he saw the video and said to keep an eye on it and that he hated to jump to medicating him. That was last week, though. It has gotten more frequent. Thanks for your advice!

Hi. That looks and sounds very much like asthma. Get him in as soon as you can and an X-ray to diagnose asthma. If it is asthma, speak to your vet about inhaler steroids instead of or after an Rx of steroids. Also discuss with your vet having an injection of a rescue medication like Terbutaline to keep in hand in case of an attack that doesn’t resolve.

I know you mentioned an appointment on Thursday. If in the meantime he has an attack that doesn’t quickly resolve, it is an emergency and warrants a trip to the ER. Do your best to limit any dust or scented anything.

I hope it isn’t asthma. My cat has asthma and it is manageable.

One other thing is the inhaled steroids target the lungs and don’t usually affect other organs. So, a much reduced risk of steroid induced diabetes etc.

My cat was on the inhaled steroids, until she needed them orally for other issues. I also have a cat dosed albuterol inhaler for any attack she may have and she does have them occasionally. It is always resolved with the albuterol. But, I have the Terbutaline injection in her “Asthma Box” just in case. The box lives under the coffee table so it is easily accessible. She hangs out mostly in the living room.

Liam has taken two pills a day for a week and only had one little asthma attack the second day. Yesterday we reduced it to once a day (morning) and he had a small one last night. I just ordered an AeroKat chamber and the vet is leaving me a script for Fluticasone. Is that what everyone else is taking? He warned me it's expensive and said I should shop around. Any suggestions? I'm in the US.

I've been watching videos on how to get him used to it and he is definitely food motivated. I think his weight is aggravating the situation so we are working on that.
