Post odd behaviours your cats have, and if anyone can explain one feel free :)

One odd behaviour: my girl Tigger will go into the litter tray, specifically to help herself to Willow's poo, to play football with it <3

Sarah, 14.5 years, will go in the box, spend a ton of time scratching around, make her deposit, then fly out of the box like something bit her. She usually does this around 5 AM, and she will race around the house in the most dramatic way, then slam on the brakes and silence, then the sad "is anyone home?" yowling starts.
Goof will run to the door to greet visitors like he's known them forever, then turn around, fold his front end under him, and raise his rear end to them. I call him Elevator Butt. He's the reason non-cat people never get invited over, the butt-in-the-face thing is too weird for some people.
Lila gets the zoomies most mornings and late afternoons, and races around the house. She has spent her life baiting my Papillons into chasing her. When they do, she'll zip off somewhere and pretend she can't be seen in the most obvious places ever. It's really cute but her hiding places are not too well thought out.

My partner is a computer geek and accordingly, a lower cabinet section is full of coiled cables and various other assorted computer hardware items, including some small boxes.

You would think this lumpy, hard edged, odd smelling area would be the last place a cat would ever go, but Poppycat loves the space even if he has quite a challenging time getting himself situated LOL

Jackpot loves chewing on all sorts of things. Example: Plastic Tape, Platic bubble wrap, Plastic Flip Flops, Tennis shoes, The cork on Birkenstock sandals, The carpet on his Cat Tree. I often tell people that I have a puppy that meows. Jackpot is the naughty Red/White.

Hek has a favorite lullaby, "Mockingbird," (you know, "Hush little baby, don't say a word/ Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird") that I have to sing to her every. single. night. AND I made up a story to go along with it. And, just like a toddler, she knows if I try to leave part of the story out, and will throw a hissyfit until I start all over again. I had less trouble getting my kids to bed!

Iris likes to gnaw on Mocha’s face with those tiny front teeth. In the process, she nips off Mocha’s whiskers, including the ones above her eyes. Mocha lets her do it. Iris is 18 and I think it’s a compulsive behavior associated with her age. It started within the past year. For Mocha, I think it’s kind of like a massage.

Feeby (18+yo) has to have her morning 'butt-pats'. It's been going on for so long now, that I don't even remember how this got started.

She waits for 'breakfast' to be served, and after a bite or two, she comes onto the patio where I am at and stands in front of me. I pat out the first half of 'Mary had a little lamb' on one side of her behind, and end with 'Shave and a Haircut, Two bits'. That is her cue to turn around so that I can pat out the 2nd half of the song on the other side of her behind, also followed by the same end.

Then, she goes on her merry way.

Willow hisses at odd times, not just when she is angry or frightened like most cats. She may go to yawn and hisses instead, or be acting silly and hissing at the walls or her toys. And sometimes she may be clearly happy but a hiss just seems pop out.
I always know when cats at work are ready to come around and be friends. 90% of the time a hiss turns into a yawn, followed by a blink. :cutecat:I love it when yawns contain a little squeaky noise, too!

What is it about boxes. I have a small box sitting on my washing machine that I was putting old retired wash cloths and hand towels in as they came through the laundry, so we can use them as rags at work. At some point the box fell over and the rags fell out, so I took the rags and left the box on the floor. It's been a few days, and a few times per day each one of the cats tries to cram their butts into that little box. NM the fact they have a few boxes that are larger and much nicer to play in, as well as their own recliner, all my furniture, several pet beds, MY bed, and their favorite bay window that they can all comfortably lay in at the same time and stretch out.

For animals that don’t like change, they are all about novelty!

I heard a theory about boxes: in the wild, predators find sneaky places to hide so they can surprise their prey, cats hide in boxes as a way of making sure their prey (whether it's a fly, a toy, their purrants shoelaces, anything the cat decides to pounce on) cannot see them before it's too late and the prey is pounced on <3

He waits to see me tossing clothes in the laundry basket before going to his food bowl.

We go through a routine where he jumps on a table about the same height of my bed. I sit on the side of the bed, he loves to like my hand and I give him good belly rubs and petting his fur. I let him take as much time as he wants. I use a bath towel or sweatshirt to protect my legs from being scratched as he likes to dig his claws in as I'm petting his fur..

Finally, he jumps down and before heading for his food bowl in the other room , he wait for me to toss the bath towel or sweatshirt in the laundry basket. Then he heads to the room for food.

Odd behavior, but sweet also.

This must have been posted here before, but have a dose of big cats and boxes!

Our Little Kitty gives a little kiss when she greets us. It's so cute and funny when I lay on the bed, she'll jump on my chest, gives me one or two licks on my nose and then settles down sleeping or waiting for pets. She also do this to some of the other cats: if they join our company, she'll go and give the couple of licks on their face. 😄 it's like upgrated nose-hello for her best buddies :p

Just thought of another for Willow, the meekest cat you would ever meet, and why this seems so odd. When she gets a new toy that she really likes, she destroys it. She holds it down with her paws and tears at it until it is in pieces. Mice get beheaded and tails removed in ten seconds, puff balls become piles of just fluff. Eventually the novelty of killing a particular toy wears off so if she destroys one, I give her another and she may leave the second or third whole. She also shreds with her teeth any kind of paper she finds on the floor.

OK...Another odd trick of my cantankerous tortie. When she's ready for me to get up, she'll patiently pull the covers off of my back, then poke me between the shoulder blades with ONE claw. I do not know how she does it. It is, perhaps, an improvement on her former method, which was to stick one paw in my mouth and jerk on my cheek (and we know where those paws have been!).
