So Google was not much help here, because it isn't a constant happening. I've noticed with Prince over the years that I've had him, that at night after I've gone to bed he will sometimes wonder around the apartment and meow as if looking for something. Every few months or so I noticed this happening so it isn't as if it's everyday or every week or frequently at most, but someone once told me that it was attributed to his yearning for somebody to play with.
He did this when younger, before I got Nikita, he's done it a couple times when I would go to bed and Nikita would curl up on the bed. And I've heard him do it once or twice in the day, though rarer than night.
The thing that made me extra curious to post this question now was last night it went from more of an inquisitive meow to more of a yowling, I got out of bed thinking he was hurt or something. I looked on my wyze cameras at the living room and it was odd, he ran for the middle of the room, stopped, and started yowling for a few seconds before hearing me call out from the bedroom, at which point he laid down.
One thing I think I've noticed each time is there's a moment of hyperactivity before, whether I've engaged him in play or he was running around with Nikita. Last night, we had what seemed an extra long play session before bed, but he's so active I'm not sure if he's worn out before I am. Maybe he was still wanting to play when went to bed? Yet this was more than half an hour after I went to bed
I can't apparently upload the brief video but it almost seems like he's talking. It's like "yeow. Yeoww. Yeow, yeowww yeow. Yeow."
Here, YouTube link to his meowing
